This is a huge day for Team USA. A loss here ends their Cup, a tie here keeps them technically alive but basically is the end of the road. However, a win over Italy would put them right back in the mix with Ghana looming next.

Game 24: Portugal -1 (-161) vs. Iran 2**

Portugal has an excellent chance to take a commanding lead in Group D in this game. They were unlucky to be held to just one goal in their match with Angola, and I expect them to find the net multiple times against a weak Iranian defense.



Game 25: Czech Republic -0.5 (-152) vs. Ghana 2**

The Czechs looked great in dismantling the U.S. team on Monday. They know that a tough match with Italy looms next, and they will surely be focused on getting the win and the 3 points vs. Ghana to move into the knockout phase.



Game 26: USA PK (+551) vs. Italy 2**

I know this looks stupid after their performance last week but I believe in Bruce Arena and the American side. I'll roll the dice here and go for a big score.

I lose my Czech Republic bet but it's a good result for the USA.

Here's a semi-realistic scenario to root for:

1. USA ties Italy

2. USA beats Ghana

3. Italy beats Czech Republic

If those three things happened the final Group standings would be Italy-7, USA-4, Ghana-3, Czech Republic-3 and the USA would advance to the knockout phase.


Of course, a win today and everyone is even but a draw would at least give us some hope.

Some thinking Czech will draw w/ Italy so they both get it....WRONG! Why? b/c if they draw, Czech will be taking on.......Braaaaaaaaazil in first round of 16. Italy wins 2-1 and US moves on.
