I will read this thread later, I don't have time, but I think Guillen is a terrible manager, has no idea when to take pitchers out, and makes many mistakes
Rook,
While I see your point about bitching him out in public is not right, I also think that the kid is in "the Show" he is getting a ton of money and if the manager asks him to bean someone...you do it, no questions asked.
This kid didn't wake up one day and become a pro baseball player, he has been around the game long enough to know that he has to do what he told.
If anything the rest of team would have respected the kid a hell of a lot more if he would have beaned the batter.
Could Ozzie have handled it better, no doubt but we live in the age reality TV and people love to see this shit.
Listen, if the kid would have done his JOB, WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO, then none of that would have happened, end of story. Who cares if it takes him 4 pitches to hit the guy, HIT HIM. He would have been thrown out of the game, pat on the but, high fived, had the respect of his mates AND KEPT HIS JOB. WHAT A SISSY.

Not sure if you watched the game or not...but he TRIED to hit him!
Maybe he should have thrown in behind him, or something...but nevertheless, what's done is done.

You are absoultely RIGHT on the money with him being in the show. He should have done his job and gotten tossed, and he would have had a lot of respect in the clubhouse.
What I didn't agree with is the way it was handled in public. I just don't see how there was anything postive from that in any angle. I'm eager to see how the kid does now in the minors and if he can bounce back, cause something like that can really effect your head.
I watched the game...you could tell he was uncomfortable before he threw the first pitch.
