I'm off tomorrow for a change, so I might have a chance to pop in during the day. Still, I wanted to play this one early. I can't imagine this line not moving against me in this one.
Baseball Play of the Day - (31-33, +1.60* - Blue Jays -107 pending)
St. Louis Cardinals -104 (Mulder/Santos)
This is what I refer to as a Spongebob game, or a Mia Wallace game. Basically, I know I am betting with the public (read: the squares), but there is so much value in the play, that it is almost impossible to pass it up.
The Cardinals are currently hitting Zach Duke pretty hard (unfortunately for Cardinals backers, he is hitting them hard as well - 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs). Duke is the best the Pirates have to offer, so I am a little more impressed with the Cards' performance than what the Pirates have done offensively against Fat Sidney.
Mulder has struggled his last couple starts, but Santos has struggled virtually his whole career. The Pirates are terrible against LHP (6-16), and in day games (5-16). They are only 1-9 in day games at home. There is little home field advantage in this one - one, it's a day game, so attendence is naturally lower, but also, the Cardinals have been in Pittsburgh for a couple days).
The Cardinals are better in every aspect of the game, including a decided bullpen edge. There is no reason at all this line should be below -120.
