Everytime one of these players fall to the ground their screaming in pain, holding thier knees. These guys flop all over the place. Then when someone finally someone gets a break away or the offense has something going a defender will just take out the guy with the ball. How does he get punished? A yellow card which does nothing unless you get anoter yellow later. That just leaves some other player who hasn't gotten a card to take out somone. Dumb sport if you ask me. Think they should get rid of the offsides. Would add some excitement.

If you watch the game with me, I bet you'll love it. All my co-workers hated soccer until I got them into it. Dont get me wrong, I dont think they'll go out of their way to buy some Soccer season tickets but I bet they are more likely to go to a soccer outing if asked.
The flopping thing is an act (I assume you already know this). Basically, they want the ball back or want a call after losing the ball for whatever reason. Using basketball as an analogy, its like when a player flies on his back and wants a charge call.
Offside rule is just like the one for hockey - cant pass the blue line before a player with a puck or teh puck itself is over the line (instead of a line, it's using def. players as markers). 'Cherry picking' in Soccer is crucial to the game.
The game can be exiciting if you know what you should be looking for. You should try to watch the game with an avid fan.NFL Kruise

It works that's why they do it.
In the Spain game one of their players had a breakaway, barely got touched and went to the ground in the box.
The result? A red card for Ukraine and a penalty kick for Spain.

Soccer, like all sports if you ask me, is a great sport once you understand what is happening. Taking a breakaway striker out and getting a yellow card is really not much different then a CB hauling down a receiver when he is beat, or fouling on a breakaway layup. It is part of the game.2010 One play a day record

GUYS ... I understand and know the game and i still think it is the most boring, painful sport in the world. It doesn't mean i think those that love or like it are crazy. It is just a personal choice and i think it SUCKS ASS!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday Weasel. I understand the rules very well. However, every time one of these pussies gets touched, they go down screaming, then get right back up and play. Rarely, if ever, do they come out of a game. They are actors and it's all for show to get the refs to buy into it. It's like taking a flop in the NBA. Except more theatrical.
And I totally agree that there shouldn't be any offsides in a game. Like in basketball, could you imagine if Wade gets loose for a breakaway dunk but gets called offsides? so the result is a no play and the ball to the opposing team. Or if Moss breaks from a defender for a touchdown pass. It gets called back and the opposing team gets the ball.....No touchdown
