I disagree...more from a personal choice...don't care what the stats say.

A personal choice is one thing. Stating wearing a helmet makes no difference is another.

Because of the freedom and joy it gives...

Again, I can think of about every little thing people do in there day to day lives and almost everything you do has risk involved...from driving to the grocery store down the street, to changing a bulb in your house...

I don't live by stats and don't care what they say...if I did, I'd be walking everywhere and not driving an auto or riding a motorcycle...

        Interesting debate/opines though...

To me there isn't. I apologize for making that statement so general that it obviously cannot be backed by stats like above...which I'd love to see how the stats are throughout entire USA...LOL...

Doesn't matter to me...choice is choice and many states DO NOT have helmet laws and many lobbyist or interest groups DO NOT want helmet laws either...at least the ones I subscribe to.

There has been a substantial increase in motorcyclists killed in Florida beginning in the first 6 months of 2000 (the repeal of the all-rider helmet law went into effect on July 1, 2000). Fatalities in the two years following the law change (2001-2002, N=575) were 71 percent greater than the two years before the law change. This is almost double the increase in fatalities for the nation as a whole. Fatalities in Florida per 10,000 registered motorcycles increased 21 percent compared to 13 percent nationally for the 2 years before and after the law change–75 percent higher than the national rate.

There was an average of 181 motorcyclists killed annually in the 30 months before the law change, and an average of 280 in the 30 months after the law change. Registrations increased an average 33.7 percent in this time period in Florida (219,486 to 293,393). The expected average annual number of motorcycle fatalities as a result of the increase in registrations was 242. The actual number who died in 2002 was 301, 24 percent (59) more motorcycle fatalities than expected as a result of increased registrations alone. The actual number who died in 2003 was 358.
Now I'd read this as more people dying so less money spent on them in hospitals...though it looks like your 2nd post following this might refute that...I wonder if this is just a Florida phenomenon. Appears that the voters and people who wanted this law reversed got what they wanted...a CHOICE. Most motorcyclists I know and ride w/ want the choice, not what someone else choses.

i am for people's rights to not wear a helmet. What i'm saying is your a fool if you choose not to wear one. I mean its your life anyone IMO should be allowed the choose, my point is why wouldnt you wear one? all it can do is help.
