  • TP's 6/12

Couple wins in a row on the POD. Liriano's brilliance made yesterday's relatively easy.

Baseball Play of the Day (30-31, +2.60*)

    Texas Rangers +120 (Koronka/action):
I rarely play games action - some people do, I think that listing the pitcher's is the one big advantage of betting baseball. Anyway, with Contreras's health problems this year, there's no guarantee that Brandon McCarthy or someone won't start this game. Probably wishful thinking, but the point is, they won't be starting anyone better than Contreras.
But, that's not that important. This play is completely a fade of the White Sox's situation. They will be coming off a rivalry series (which I believe they will end up sweeping), and they find themselves in their most vulnerable position. They are only a .500 team on the road overall, but there's this: they are 1-8 on the road against LHSP at night.
That's really all I need to know to give the Rangers a chance here. But, there's more.
    Look at these situational ERA's:

    Koronka:
    Home Day Games: 8.44
    Road Day Games: 4.50
    Road Night Games: 4.56
    Home Night Games: 3.38

    Contreras:
    Home Day Games: 2.83
    Home Night Games: 1.29
    Road Day Games: 1.20
    Road Night Games: 4.73

Now, these numbers could be an aberration, or they could represent the situations in which these pitchers thrive and struggle. I lean to the latter thought process, but either way, I like the Rangers' chances in this one.
    Records:

    NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
    NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
    NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
    NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
    NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)
