              NBA Finals

Dallas is now 3-0 vs Miami this year, and won by 10 points even though Nowitzki shot 4-14 from floor in Game 1. Wade was 6-10 from line in first game, Shaq 1-9, and other ten Heat players did not take a foul shot- to win this series, or even to get it back to Dallas for Games 6-7, Miami will need to find offense somewhere other than Wade-Shaq, and it would also help if Shaq could at least make half his foul shots. Combination of Posey/Haslem did good job on Dirk, but Terry had 32, 20 in first half, so that can't go on, or this will be very short series.

                Six-Pack for Sunday
-- Arizona's week from hell continued as the immortal Alay Soler shut them out Saturday night, 5-0. DBacks are 0-6 in games since the Jason Grimsley story broke; now, Grimsley is complaining that he wants to get paid. Good luck.
-- Funny that one of the current Arizona owners was, in a previous career, a player agent. Sympathy isn't going to be too plentiful in desert, with Diamondbacks in freefall.
-- The coach of Togo's soccer team quit three days before their first match in World Cup, over financial issues. Good to see the BS in sports isn't restricted to the ones I like.
-- Congrats to CapperZeke for hitting $10 exacta ticket on the Belmont, and to DDLohaus, for $20 win ticket on Jazil, the winner. Excellent weekend for our horse hadicappers.
-- Andruw Jones (8), Jim Edmonds (6) have longest current streaks of winning Gold Gloves.
-- Shockingly, Reggie Sanders is just the fifth person in the history of baseball to hit 300 homers, steal 300 bases. I am totally stunned that only five guys have done that.

Sunday's List of 13: Random thoughts on a chilly day
                  13) I watch decent amount of poker on TV, and I like it, but it isn't a sport, simple as that. It is a game of skill, for sure, but it isn't a sport-- it takes zero athletic ability. Not a sport.

                  12) Funniest commercial since Turkey's tourism bureau tried to get Americans to visit during the 2002 World Cup (Turkey borders Iraq) is one now on the MSG Network, for a Knicks' summer basketball camp.

Any mom or dad who sends their kids to those nitwits should be sent to jail and charged with child abuse. Sending your kid to Knicks for instruction on basketball would be like sending them to Paris Hilton for instruction on nuclear physics.

                  11) On second thought, maybe Knicks could pick kids' brains on personnel decisions. They couldn't do any worse.

                  10) Speaking of nitwits, I wonder if Latrell Sprewell's kids had to go out and get jobs to put food on the table? Sprewell is a genius that turned down a three-year, $21 million contract in spring of '05, and wound up with bupkus. Good decision.

                  9) According to MLB.com, Mets, on their 25-man roster, have thirteen Hispanics, three African-Americans, nine caucasians, a hispanic GM, an African-American manager. Six of the nine caucasians are pitchers.

                  8) According to Mapquest, it is 2,470 miles between Raleigh, Edmonton and if you're driving to eaach game of Stanley Cup finals, it is a 44-hour commute between arenas.

                  7) One of Barbaro's owners was quoted as saying that it was sad Barbaro was injured, because "...America needs heroes." Well, people, if we're looking at the equine industry for our heroes, we're in fairly deep trouble, healthy horse or not.

                  6) Mets have now won nine games in row at Arizona; their franchise record for consecutive road wins at one ballpark is ten in a row at Riverfront in Cincinnati in 1985-86.

                  5) Daniel Cabrera left Saturday's game with 8-0 lead after 6.5 innings; Oriole bullpen held on for 9-7 win. Mazzone's move to Camden Yards hasn't helped Orioles, and hurt the Braves.

                  4) Pirates have now won Ian Snell's last five starts. You can win a bar bet on that one.

                  3) How could Al Pacino agree to be in a movie as hideous as Gigli? And once he agreed to be in it, why didn't they write his character into more scenes?

                  2) Been a lousy spring for Tim Floyd; he lost his point guard in horrible shooting death, the accidental victim of bullet that was meant for someone else, then Gabe Pruitt, USC's other starting guard, was declared academically ineligible for fall semester. Real life is way more important than basketball, but still, those are two thunderbolts that will have lasting effect.

                  1) Will be sad day for Ram fans and all of football if Marshall Faulk has to retire, due to bad knees. What a great player he has been; will be interesting to see if he goes into coaching
