1-1-1 on Day 2, losing the big play on the Over in the Sweden game. I was way off on that one....Sweden had a ton of chances but just couldn't put it in the back of the net.
World Cup Record: 2-2-1 (-1.81 units)
6/11
Game 6: Netherlands -0.5 (-104) vs. Serbia and Montenegro 2**
Serbia and Montenegro did very well in qualifying but I'll take my chances with Les Oranjes in this one. The Dutch missed the World Cup in 2002 and have waited 8 years for this game. I expect them to start this year's Cup with a bang.
Game 7: Mexico vs. Iran OVER 2.5 +120 2**
I like the value here of +120 given the fact that both these teams are potent offensively. Mexico scored 67 goals in qualifying, more than any team in the world. Their star striker, Jared Borgetti was the world's top individual scorer in qualifying, and I expect him to find the net at least once against a weak Iran defense. Iran's defense is not great but they have a number of experienced forwards who know how to score themselves, including star Ali Karama, the 2004 Asian Footballer of the Year. There will be a lot of offensive talent on display in this game. I thought about taking the Over 2 but didn't want to lay that much vig and will roll the dice with the 2.5 line instead.
Game 8: Angola +1.5 (-115) vs. Portugal 1*
This is by far the biggest game in the history of Angolan soccer. Not only is this the first World Cup game in Angola's history, they are facing the country that colonized them in 1575 and stayed there for the next 400 years, using Angolans as a source of slaves. You can bet Angola will be up for this game and they have a very stout defense, which only gave up 6 goals during qualifying. I'll take my chances with the underdogs here.
Good luck and enjoy the Cup!
