I hate watching these South American teams play.. There's always 5 minutes of injury time because they roll around on the ground and make a meal of it everytime they get kicked in the shin..
You may say soccer has very little action.
But there's a reason it's the world most popular sport. It is exiciting and one of the most difficult sports to play, with supremely conditioned athletes.

well why did the goalie for parafags go out with turf toe? can you explain that? i mean this is the world cup isnt it??? the goalie didnt even get touched, he didnt twist anything. what a bitch
Seriously. What's the huge attraction to soccer? The game is boring. There's very little action.
American football. Many lulls in the actions But they are running plays about every 30 seconds. Lots of strategy involved.
Baseball. Slow game. The game currently takes too long to play.
Basketball. I disklike the sport but there's play of action.
Hockey. Probably the most exciting sport. Mostly non-stop action.
Soccer. There's so little action. I'm not a soccer fan. I know very little about the sport. There doesn't seem to be any strategy involved. I'd rather watch a ping pong match.

That's my point. I don't understand the world's obsession with soccer.
I agree the soccer players are in great shape. Aside from conditioning what makes soccer difficult to play?
I mean no disrespect towards soccer fans. admittedly I know very little about the sport. I'm trying to understand the attraction.

OK Cheech, I will try to give you an understanding of why so much of the world loves soccer. If you notice, a high percentage of the soccer teams in the world cup come from what we would consider "third" world or under developed nations. For many of these nations, soccer is a source of pride especially if you up against a more westernized or industrial country. It's a chance to be on a level playing field against the "big" boys and just compete.
Another reason for the appeal is that it's so easy to play. All you need is a ball and your feet. So the poorest of kids all over the world kick makeshift balls on dirty pitches and streets. There's a certain romantic notion about the whole thing. But it's the truth.
Soccer is more than the sport. It's politics and socio-economics.
I will stop myself and not write anymore.

You asked what makes soccer so difficult...set up a line of cones five yards apart and then dribbling a ball full speed with your feet without hitting them. Now get your wife to guard you and do the same thing.
Or find an object like a light pole or tree stand 20-feet away and then try hitting the light pole or tree by kicking a ball at it?
Now try using head and doing the same thing.
These guys are very precise with their passing, dribbling and overall control of the soccer ball.
If you really watch a match it really is an impressive skill to admire.
OK so I worked in the front office for a pro soccer team in a past life, my opinon may be bit biased.
I not trying to sell you on the sport, just trying to share the knowledge.

I never said they weren't athletes or talented.
In fairness. At this point aside from football and some golf tournaments I watch very little sports on TV.
