Hey, I'll take the mini victory last night because its better than losing 7 units like I have earlier this week and last weekend. Winning is always good. I got a few games today and I was upset to see Oswalt scratched, I actually thought the Astros might be able to win more than 1 in a row, but im not even touching that game today, that's gunna be a mess. You got Marshall who walks just about everyone and Sampson who isnt use to starting in the big leagues, i would def lean towards the over which is 9.5 but like I said, im staying away from this game. Here's what I do have though... I have a game of the Week i'd like to put up first...
Not sure how long they will be favorites but I love the Marlins this afternoon. The Marlins start game 3 of the series with San Fran with Dontrelle Willis who looked really good in his last start and picked up a W finally. Florida is at +102 right now and I can almost guarantee it's gunna get to -105 and it will be an even game by the time of the game. Let me tell you why I like this and why I've made it my game of the week... Jamey Wright is pitching for the Giants and he's pitching on 3 days rest. I don't care how good of a pitcher you are, or how good you've been pitching, 3 days rest and 4 days rest have a HUGE difference. I've pitched my whole life and know that on t3 days rest, it's tough. It's tough to get your body ready to go out there, and on top of that, it's tough to pitch a good game and have control of your pitches and really locate where you want the ball to go. We saw Andy Pettitte (who yes has been pitching terribly lately,) go on 3 days rest last time out and he got whipped around. 3 days rest= no good. Also I love the fact that Dontrelle Willis is from the bay area and he has never EVER won in the bay area in an MLB game. I really think he's overdue, he will have a lot of family and friends here and im sure he as much as his family will be looking for his first W in the area. Marlins are also trying to avoid a 3 game sweep at the hands of the Giants and to top it off, Barry Bonds is NOT playing in tonights game. I love the Marlins tonight as they got whipped in game 1, played a good game yesterday, and can only get better tonight with Willis at the helm.
FLORIDA (WILLIS) over SAN FRAN (WRIGHT) +102
I also love Jeff Weaver's brother this year. At least he makes the Weaver family look good. Jeff Weaver just blows his load everytime he pitches. Go with his brother today, as he is one of the premier rookies in the league.
LA ANGLES (WEAVER) over TAMPA BAY (MCCLUNG) -160
The next game I like happens to be a team I was on last night behind my favorite lefty in the American League. Barry Zito and the Oakland Athletics. I was nervous last night, but the old man Frank Thomas came up big and Chavez had a great night in route to a road victory over the Indians. Ya know, Joe Blanton at least deserves to be even with Paul Byrd if not favorites. Paul Byrd is terrible. Absolutely terrible. I love the Athletics at +115... not to mention, Blanton has an amazing game last time out!
OAKLAND ATHLETICS (BLANTON) over CLEVELAND INDIANS (BYRD) +115
The next game, well -200 is too much to lay out on the Atlanta Braves especially because they have been nothing short of horrific lately. John Smoltz though happens to OWN the Nationals/Expos in his career. 16-7 in his career with a 2.54 ERA. That is very impressive. Smoltz last time out against this same squad pitched a complete game letting up 2 runs and earning the 6-2 victory. Ramon Ortiz is starting for the Nationals and in his career he has NEVER beating the Atlanta Braves with also a 8.85 career ERA against the Braves. I don't think things change tonight, Im going to take the Braves -1.5 as hopefully they can win their 2nd in a row tonight at home.
ATLANTA (SMOLTZ) over WASHINGTON (ORTIZ) -1.5 -110
ATLANTA
My next game is with the Padres. I don't know a lot about the new kid Zach Jackson but what I do know is that San Diego is a decent team this year that can win games, and especially on the road. Chan Ho Park ever since the World Baseball Classic has really looked good which is very surprising because he looked like he was all done at the end of last year. He was terrible. He has turned it up and has worked with the pitching coaches in San Diego and he looks great and at -105 it's worth the bet on the Padres tonight behind a veteran against a kid that isnt use to the big leagues. Also a a last minute fact... Last time out this year for Park against Milwaukee he threw 6 innings shoutout ball and can I add one more thing... He's never lost against Milwaukee, a perfect 7-0. I will be AMAZED if a kid named Zach Jackson beats Chan Ho Park for the first time ever for the Brewers.
SAN DIEGO (PARK) over MILWAUKEE (JACKSON) -105
The next game that I like, well I'll just write it, no need to explain it, im tired of typing anyways...
CINCINATTI (HARANG) over ST. LOUIS (PONSON) -112
that's all I got right now, maybe be back later and pick a winner in the NHL stanley cup game #2 tonight. gl everyone!!
