Hey everyone, I have already posted all my offical picks a little while ago and since I have already made my Game of the Year I will not be doing one of those again until the start of 2007. I am 1-0 in Game Of The Year's, and I'd like to stay that way
With that put, June is a new month and I can use my game of the month. Now, I dont like using these GOY and GOM unless I am almost certain about a bet and both GOY and GOM i have already used have been underdog bets that I have hit. I am 2-0 in those bets.
The game I like today for my game of the month for June 06 is the Houston Astros. Sure, Bronson Arroyo's numbers this year could scare any team. He's 6-2 overall with a 2.58 E.R.A. Now, I am a pitcher and have pitched in semi pro baseball and I know a good pitcher when I see one. Bronson Arroyo is having a stellar year. He also happens to be 2-0 lifetime against the Stro's with a 5.06 ERA. All the stats point to Arooyo and the Red's today but Im not taking it.
I love the Houston Astros today, let me explain...
Two words for Andy Pettite today and those two words are simply put, ROGER CLEMENS. If this doesnt fuel Pettitte to pitch an amazing game AT home today I'm not quite sure what will. Clemens and Pettitte are very good friends and he must be pumped that Clemens will be back the mound in late June.
Pettitte's numbers this year arent that good, but just because they arent that good doesnt mean he's not a top notch pitcher. Pettitte this year is a measley 4-6 with a 5.65 ERA. This is not Andy Pettitte's traditonal stats. 2-2 career against Cincinatti with a 3.16 ERA. Also I might point out that Lance Berkman is batting .400 lifetime against Arroyo and so is Preston Wilson. I mean, let's seriously look at Pettitte's numbers last year...
17 wins and 9 losses with a low low ERA of 2.39. He's gotta snap out of it at some point and there isnt a better game to do that than today in front of the home faithful and with news fresh in his ear's on Roger coming back.
Some more stats if you arent fully with me yet... The Red's havent won consecutive games at Minute Maid Park since 2003. Following that, the Astros had won 15 of 17 mettings between the teams at Minute Maid Park before last nights loss. The Red's have also have not won three straight in Houston since 2001. Basically the Red's dont traditionally play well in Houston. Let's go Astros as the game of the month at +105
