Thanks Chuck & Spark, a new career would be better for me, unfortunately, I'm pretty good at this one & I'm 38 with a BA in sociology/criminal justice, so I'm kinda limited to who would hire me....anyway off to another days grind, later.

So why are you working in HVAC?

My uncle is an HVAC tech, that roof work on a hot summer day blows. Not to mention when the weather turns hot or cold it's go time for guys like you. My uncle has to be on call like every other weekend, do they make you do that also?

That blows, cant drink a beer or nothing.

this place has a lot of guys, I'm on call every 10 weeks or so for the weekend, but on call almost every week for 1 weeknight(last night was one of em)

I got into this stupid field because my dad had an hvac company based in manhatten(very small, is disolved now) and I went to work for him shortly after college(my lame degree is only good for going into law, police etc, social work, I wanted to go to law school, but could'nt stand all the boring reading and studying fuck that) So now I'm stuck doing it even though I don't enjoy it

Any chance for moving into the office? Me and you are the same age and i worked as an electrician/ foreman for 10 years then moved into the office as a project manager and estimator. Beats the grind on the body of field work. Your obviously an intelligent dude, you should be able to find that type of position.

Not at this place, I don't think there are any spots open, and you probably have to put in the years here b4 they move u.

I'm also not very ambitious/go getter, whatever u call it, lazy? I don't know, I just don't have the drive or motivational skills some people have

If I could get paid for writing jokes, Libs, abusing people with photoshop and making picks, I would be ecstatic(oh wait, I do that for free here)

But I will be scouring the want-ads this weekend, so who knows
