Detroit once again down 3-1, but now vs Shaq/Wade/Riley, not just Lebron. Pistons scored 92 points in only series win; 86,83 and 78 in their losses, so they have to create some more offense somehow. Miami took 47 foul shots in Game 4, Detroit 22 (12-22, at that!!), so Heat getting ball to better places, then making more shots. At 37.8%/42.2%/39.0% from floor in their losses (44% in the one win) and with Miami shooting 54.9%+ in all three wins, Pistons have lot of riddles to solve. Of course, had Wade been healthy last year, this might have happened then-- Van Gundy could have kept his job, instead of being made a scapegoat.

Wednesday's List of 13: Random thoughts on a hot night

Watching the A's this year has been pretty much like being Wile E. Coyote trying to catch Road Runner. Their bullpen has been pathetic.

Without further ado, an annoyed, overheated version of our List of 13................
      13) If Raja Bell played for Knicks, he'd be compared to Willis Reed; he gutted out 30+ minutes Tuesday night, as Suns hit 54.4% of their shots from floor and won by 20 points. Rumor was that Bell was out for series, and certainly first five games, so his presence Tuesday had to be an inspiration.

      12) A's officially stink, dropping to 23-29 after blowing lead in ninth inning again; they made three outs in 10th inning, all on first pitch swings. Two batters who took the first pitch both reached base. So much for a sound hitting approach. I mean, Royals' last two road series wins are both in Oakland, and they're nine months apart. Time to shake things up.

      11) Put it this way; once Chavez went out, they played with a third baseman hitting .034 and a second baseman hitting .152.

      10) Buffalo beat Carolina in OT, forcing a Game 7 for right to go to Stanley Cup finals, so that'll be fun to watch Thursday.

      9) I trade Chris Young in my fantasy league; four hours later, he has a no-hitter in 8th inning. Go figure.

      8) I traded Young in package to get Mets' prospect Lastings Milledge, who made his debut Tuesday, and got a double in four AB's. No idea if Milledge will stay up this year, but he didn't looked at all overmatched in his first big league game.

      7) Rocco Baldelli must think Durham has a major league team; he has now been there for six games and is hitting .470+, but what exactly are Devil Rays waiting for? Do they really like sitting there every night, watching Joey Gathright make outs?

      6) At long last, Devil Ray rookie Shields gets start for D-Rays Wednesday; he had six walks, 64 strikeouts in AAA this year Tampa has too many games where their pitchers strike no one out-- it puts too much pressure on their defense.

      5) Vernon Wells looked like Roy Hobbs Tuesday, swatting a trio of taters, inspiring Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy to say that Wells would be in Hall of Fame, if he played all his games vs Boston. Eight of his 15 '06 homers are against Boston.

      4) Colorado's Brad Hawpe has one of the strongest throwing arms in major leagues. Very underrated rightfielder.

      3) Tigers twice had bases loaded, no one out against Bronx on Tuesday, and scored total of one run. They lost 11-6, after the Evil Empire scored five times in 10th inning. Detroit has lost three games in row, as they enter tough part of schedule.

      2) Angels have found their legs after a dreadful stretch; they are 6-1 in their last seven games.

      1) Dallas gets what it deserves if it lets Mr Nash play another Game 7. What a leader he is, and with Bell able to contribute, the Suns look lot tougher than they did 24 hours ago.
