  • 10* alert............French Open

I love posting, wish i could do it more but you all know I never do it unless i bet over a certain amount on a game/prop, etc. I have strict guidelines i must adhere to so as to keep the record decent and maintain respect as a contributor around here (assuming i am even such a thing)...............I will say proudly that I think my first post was about 3 years ago and I have yet to ever look at another site like this, much less eer join or post..........you guys are the best, and as usual, i was reading other posts tonight, and just want to say thanks to the mods , you do an excellent job

10* Nadal to win the French Open (-105)------->I hate making this bet because Federer has probably won me more money than any other sports figure in the past 3 years. But it is hard to argue with Nadal's 50+ match winning streak on this surface and the fact that not only has federer never won this tournament, he doesnt usually come close with the exception of last year's loss in the semi-final to nadal (3rd round exit followed by back to back 1st round exits the 2 years before). Throw in the fact that sampras never won, mcenroe never won, and it has been 20 years since someone won this tourney that was not a great clay court player, it is hard to see anyone beating nadal. Experts will point out that a week ago in Rome, Federer almost beat nadal (had match points in a great 5 setter), but this surface is much slower than that one. Not all red-clay surfaces are the same. The difference here is that Federer could lose to about 6 or 7 players on this surface if they bring their A game while Nadal cant lose to anyone but but Federer and maybe someone like nalbandian or Safin if they played perfect. If nadal and federer get to the final, you will at least have the opportunity to hedge b/c barring injury, Nadal would be at the least a -160 favorite (he was -220 vs. federer in rome) and a -300 or more favorite vs. anyone else. The list of past french open champions is just a who's-who of clay court specialists and in the mans game today, it is almost impossible for a new player to win here. I would love to see Federer win this and become an odds-on favorite to win the Grand Slam, but at even odds, i cannot go against the defending champ and someone who has won 53 straight matches on clay.

    good luck

I took Nadal at -104 and hedged some of my wager with Federer +186
