  • Spears Play of the Day

3-0 Now on 10 plays with a hugh 9 run inning to get us pass the push zone late last night.
I like taking the best play I see and plunking down a disciplined amount for the enjoyment of it. I have less time now --that I can spend on the 'puda but this play is solid and I thought you might like it. KC is 10-5 on Wednesdays but I believe the pitchers system trends are a better indicator.

    Detroit Tigers -1½ (-150)

Bonderman is excellent at coming back from poor performances. He is the black sheep of the detroit starting staff that is pitching 3.02 ERA per game (without Bonderman)

BONDERMAN is 8-1 (+9.7 Units) against the money line after getting rocked for 7 or more runs last outing since 1997.
The average score was BONDERMAN 7.8, OPPONENT 2.9

REDMAN is 2-25 (-21.9 Units) against the money line as an underdog of +100 or higher over the last 2 seasons. The average score was REDMAN 3.1, OPPONENT 5.9 - (Rating = 4*)

REDMAN is 8-29 (-20.7 Units) against the money line in all games over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 3.3, OPPONENT 5.2 - (Rating = 2*)

REDMAN is 4-17 (-13.6 Units) against the money line when the total is 8.5 to 10 over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 3.5, OPPONENT 5.3 - (Rating = 0*)

REDMAN is 8-28 (-19.7 Units) against the money line in games played on a grass field over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 3.3, OPPONENT 5.1 - (Rating = 2*)

REDMAN is 5-20 (-15.2 Units) against the money line in night games over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 3.4, OPPONENT 5.0 - (Rating = 1*)

REDMAN is 4-20 (-16.5 Units) against the money line after a loss over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 3.3, OPPONENT 5.6 - (Rating = 1*)

REDMAN is 1-13 (-12.3 Units) against the money line after 2 or more consecutive losses over the last 2 seasons. (Team's Record)
    The average score was REDMAN 4.0, OPPONENT 6.3 - (Rating = 1*)

Spearit: Your stats would show that you expect Redman to start for KC, but Gobble is the listed pitcher.

Is this correct and would it change the play? Gobble sucks anyways.

To win, the Royals will have to slow down Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez once more. Rodriguez carried a career .356 average against them before going 0-for-5 on Tuesday. Kansas City also must solve the formidable Detroit pitching staff. Other than Wednesday's starter, Jeremy Bonderman (4.66 ERA), no other member of the rotation has an ERA above 3.02.

"Their pitching has really come together," Royals manager Buddy Bell said.

                    Pitching matchup
KC: LHP Jimmy Gobble (0-0, 5.14 ERA)
Gobble is a possibility to start in place of injured lefty Mark Redman, who is out with tightness in his forearm.

DET: RHP Jeremy Bonderman (4-3, 4.66 ERA)
Bonderman took an Interleague beating on Friday night, giving up seven runs in three-plus innings to the Reds when his sporadic control problems returned. That ended a personal five-game unbeaten streak that included two eight-inning scoreless performances, one of them against the Royals on May 1, at Comerica Park.

Gobble has been used as a reliever going 1-2 innings per game. In May in 10 innings pitched has given up 10 hits and 4 runs. Prior two months gave up 10 hits in 10 innings with 8 runs. He will probably go just a few innings and bring what heat he can but I suspect this will be by committee tonight. With a favorable umpire on the Over- this could be the case tonight on an over. KC is hurting for pitching and 10 of 13 games have been an over for KC if memory serves me.

                            Top Play is the side.

The over is a 'smell that smell' play.
Crawford the ump is 6-2-1 on overs! play the first 5 innings over- for small.
