just curious your opinion on the hughes/gracie fight this saturday nite. i know you follow this more than I do.
sportsinteraction has gracie at almost a 3-1 dog..
any thoughts?
i think hughes goes through him like a buzzsaw....I just think he is more well rounded than gracie.....alot has changed in the UFC since he left....I think the only way Hughes loses is if he makes a tactical error, but i do not see it happening at all....he trains real hard and is the most dominant middleweight ever.....JMHO...i can not wait
twoton i sang you some ole blue eyes in post #30 of spear's 10 star total-love sinatra also-hell look at my avatar dead give away-anyway we want go there-love you brother!!

correct me if i'm wrong tony, isn't gracie getting up there in years, same thing happening to shamrock-harder to compete with these young studs, and much harder to train like you use to with age, just my 2 cents!!

yes, waynechung.....shamrock got destroyed by ortiz and then by rich franklin if i am not mistaken...it is a rugged sport and these modern fighters are more well rounded and are good strikers, ground fighters and ju-jitzu specialists.....hoyce is older, but in ju jitzu it is not that big of a deal....he has been fighting regularly in japan....if you look at gracies older UFC fights he was destroying guys twice his size (before weight classes), but those fighters were not as well rounded...many were just rugged guys who lacked ground skills.....this is not the case with Hughes....and he also does not get intimidated at all.....At his camp they fight all the time in camp at 90% so he is prepared big time......he does not spar lightly like many others.....i saw his special on spike last nite....gonna be another great night
Guys, the town that I moved to is the hometown of Chuck Lidell...My Brother-in-law introduced me to him last weekend....And he said Hughes is the real deal and a very good friend of his.....I'm going to a local Bar that Chuck goes to Saturday night to watch these fights....I can't wait, it should be exciting because from what I hear it is always a packed house....And you know who I've be rooting for...
Gracie maybe older, but guys gracie was training in japan in k-1. He just beat akebono who is 6'9 475 pounds. He just fought 6 months ago. He is in good shape. If he gets matt on the ground, its his territory. Just remember BJ Penn took matt to the ground and lost. I hope it will be a great fight. Hope its not just Hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do not think it is going to be a lock for either fighter. It will probably be the best fight the UFC has ever seen. Two very seasoned fighters, both men trained hard their wholes lives. They both have strong work ethic and it will be a edge of your seat fight.

the guy gracie fought was very cumbersome and not a well rounded fighter as hughes.....matt has no weaknesses anymore......i am not ruling out a gracie win, i just think there are no chinks in matt's armor
