Conventional wisdom would be that Miami has edge, since they had so much more time to prepare for this, with Pistons needing to sweat out wins Friday/Sunday to get to this point, but really, history shows team with momentum has edge in Game 1, then loses it for second game, as fatigue sets in. Nothing changes in eastern finals, except that Van Gundy isn't around to blame if the Heat lose again this year. Can BWallace guard Shaq by himself and if not, can Miami drain enough perimeter shots to win? The Pistons were in trouble in this series last year, until Wade hurt himself. Keeping him healthy this time around is a must.

      NHL

Not only did Oilers win first two games at Pond, they've won 12 in row at home vs Anaheim, so Ducks are in deep trouble here, after scoring total of two goals in first two games, while Oilers scored one goal in all six periods so far. Anaheim was +6/+9 in shots, +6/+6 in faceoffs, but only 1-13 on power play, so unless Ducks can stop Edmonton's six-game winning streak, they'll be in very deep hole that very few have gotten out of. Note that an underdog is 3-1 in this round so far, though.

        Six-Pack for Tuesday
-- Huge night for Mavericks and NBA, as Dallas survives blowing 18-point lead, wins Game 7 at Alamo, setting up a terrific Western Conference final with the Suns.
-- I vehemently disagree with Spurs' having Parker off the floor for final possession of regulation- you never take the QB off the floor for critical possessions. Your point guard is the leader, the glue, and Parker can make a big shot, too.
-- For someone with 41 points, Duncan had weird game-- he got his first rebound with 8:00 left in third quarter, and left several shots short in game's final critical minutes. Hard to be critical, but he would have had 50 if he had his A game.
-- TV schedule bailed out the Suns, who needed time off desperately after dismal Game 6 Thursday. They looked to be their old selves Monday, pounding Clippers 127-107.
-- NBA Draft Lottery is Tuesday at 7; won't be the same without Elgin Baylor, but Isiah Thomas should get used to the surroundings, assuming he can somehow not be fired.
-- Josh Peavy struck out sixteen Braves last night but lost 3-1, as Langerhans took him deep for two-run homer.

Tuesday's List of 13: Random thoughts on sunny day....
          13) Remember in Bull Durham, when Kevin Costner says how a hit a week is the difference between .250 and .300? I decided to research this quickly, and used Ichiro Suzuki's stats for '05.

He was 206-679 (lot more at-bats than most players), for .303 average. With 26 less hits, that would have made him a .268 hitter, so the movie was right on.

          12) If someone hit .300 with 500 AB's, a more typical amount of AB's and gotten 26 less hits (26 weeks in baseball season), he would have hit .248, 52 points lower.

          11) San Diego Padres are 7-1 in their last eight Father's Day games.

          10) Roy Halladay is averaging over seven innings per start, but in Toronto's other 37 games, their starting pitcher has failed to last five innings eleven times.

          9) We've talked couple of times this spring about Yavapai College's baseball team, but some new information has come to light; not only is Shane Keough (son of former A's P Matt Keough) on the squad, so is C Kevin Gossage, son of Goose Gossage. Yavapai plays in the Arizona Community College Conference, and they only use wooden bats, so that must help in kid's adjustment to pro ball.

          8) Stanford's baseball team is in danger of not making NCAA tournament for first time since 1993.

          7) The 2006 baseball draft is considered a weak one by most scouts. Still, it would be excellent if ESPN televised it. Hell, they televise the WNBA Draft!!!!

          6) The PGA Tour Media Guide lists Tim Herron at 5-10, 210 pounds. If he is really 210, then the Easter Bunny is real, and I'm winning the World Series of Poker, right after I get back from a Caribbean cruise with Angelina Jolie. No freakin' way.

          5) Prediction: Phil Mickelson winning the Masters with two drivers in his bag is going to start big trend in that direction.

          4) Which reminds me that I'd like to see a PGA Tour event where the players could only use anywhere from 5-7 clubs in their bag, if only for the caddies' sake. They need some more variety in the different tournaments on Tour.

          3) ESPN's Jason Sobel points out that Kirk Triplett is the only one of twenty winners on Tour this season who didn't play in the final group on Sunday.

          2) Seattle Seahawk coaches had their annual spring meeting with an NFL official on rules changes last week, and half of the three-hour meeting was spent rehashing the calls that cost Seahawks the Super Bowl in Detroit. They say they've gotten over their loss to the Steelers, but best guess is they haven't.

          1) Marvin Harrison has had operations on both his wrist and elbow this offseason. Peyton Manning is already thinking he will retire in eight years. Edgerrin James is gone. The window of opporutnity for the Colts may have slammed shut when Pittsburgh beat them at home in January.
