Another big day for units on Sunday, going 2-2 for +7.4 units! These are my plays for Monday.........
5 STAR: ARIZONA (WEBB)(-$135) OVER Houston (Villone)
Astros starting pitcher Ron Villone has not had any luck when pitching at the BOB. Villone is winless with a 14.00 ERA in his career team starts in Arizona, he is 0-6 when playing against a team with a winning record over the last 3 seasons and he is is 1-8 when pitching in night games over the last 3 seasons. The Astros did not hit much against Webb last week, and I don't look for them to hit against him today. Houston is only 3-13 in road games vs. an National League starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.150 or better over the last 3 seasons. Arizona has been playing very well lately and I look for them to knock Villone out of this game!
1 STAR: Detroit (Bonderman)(+$220) OVER BOSTON (WAKEFIELD)
At this line, I'll take a small shot with the Tigers. Red Sox starting pitcher Tim Wakefield is 3-9 at home when the total is 9 to 9.5 over the last 3 seasons and 3-8 in home games in June games since 1997. Wakefield has not been anything special against the Tigers, he is only 3-3 when starting against Detroit with an ERA of 5.26. The Red Sox get to tee off against Tigers starting pitcher Jeremy Bonderman who is 2-10 with a 5.24 ERA on the season, but Bonderman has a respectable 3.66 road ERA this season and the Red Sox are only 13-18 versus an American League starting pitcher whose ERA is 5.20 to 5.70 over the last 3 seasons. As bad as Detroit has been, they are actually 5-4 at Fenway Park over the last three seasons. I'll take a shot with the Tigers here.
1 STAR: TAMPA BAY (ZAMBRANO)(+$170) OVER New York (Clemens)
Tampa Bay's starting pitcher Victor Zambrano is facing Roger Clemens for the fourth time this season. He surrendered five runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings of a 10-5 home loss on April 6, but has limited the Yankees to five hits in 14 scoreless innings in his last two outings versus them. At this price I have to take a shot with the Devil Rays, Roger Clemens is only 11-13 as a road favorite of -200 or more since 1997.
MLB RECORD
5 STAR RECORD 50-25 (+46.80 UNITS)
3 STAR RECORD 68-61 (+39.83 UNITS)
2 STAR RECORD 42-54 (-14.28 UNITS)
1 STAR RECORD 27-24 (+3.46 UNITS)
OVERALL RECORD 187-164 (+75.81 UNITS)
A $100 player would be up $7581.00
Good luck,
John
