not that it matters since he will be out a period of time, but due to a technicality with a rule, he actually does not get credit for playing tonight, so his consecutive game streak ends after last nights game! the guy plays, breaks his wrist in the first inning, and doesn't get credit for the game! Imagine if it was just a bruise and he came back to play tomorrow!?!?! What a joke!

true, but it doen't make them right. Tony, if he got ejected by the ump before the top of the first was over, he would have gotten credit for playing and the streak would live. But because he hurt himself and did not play a half inning, he doesn't. Can you honesty tell me you think that is fair?

Its all good.. Bubba Crosby filled in pretty nicely for him tonight.. Sheffield will be back in a week or so.. Its still way early in the season so no worries from me..

Who said late August? I thought it would be 6-8 weeks.
I watched the play over and over, and it is still scary to think that on one isolated play someone could injure himself so badly.
Hopefully, he will be back sooner.
No one likes to see another player get injured in the "line of duty" especially such a good player as Matsui.

Torre said it could be at least 3 months which puts you in the month of August.. I hope he comes back sooner but I want him completly healthy when he returns..

Torre ih his postgame said 3 months...I am sure they will be more definitive after surgery tomorrow. To me, he and Sheffield are the two guys in that lineup I do not want to see in the bottom of the ninth with tying or winning runs on base.
