Sorry. You are wrong,i have watched many NBA games, and I would bet many more times than not there are nowhere near 35 points scored in a NBA game with 4:45 minutes remaining with one team leading by 30 points especially when the added extra "effort" put the game over the total.

Savage your observation of NBA games is a far cry from reality. My database dating back from 1995 disproves your theory.

Once again I will state in the NBA blowout games tend to go OVER the total.

In games where a team enters the 4th quarter with a double digit lead those games play OVER 52.4% of the time.

More so in games where a team leads by 20 or more points those games play OVER a staggering 54.2% of the games.

Conversely, tight scoring games play UNDER. Teams milk the clock. They play clock management trying to limit the number of possesions. They play tighter defense.

Sorry Frank-your post does NOT directly address the circumstances of the other night, where the 35 points were scored in the LAST 4 MINUTES AND 45 SECONDS to put the game over( a game which had no business going over), and one team was leading by 30 points.
You would have to show me something akin to above circumstances, as my main contention is that much of what I believe goes on late in games to impact the ats or in this case the total.
Do any of your stats address how many times in blowout games were a slew of needless points scored like the other night(when teams normally hold on to the ball) to put the game over?

Most games I have seen with a scenario like this don't have anywhere near 35 points scored in such a short period of time and which mysterously push the total over.
Usually teams with a big lead with a few minutes to play with a lead like that and the team trailing don't make an extra effort to score with three pointers I don't care what you say.
And I never said every game(Llaker) is a conspiracy,and if I am skeptical and ignorant, you my friend are incredibly naive to think that in this society some players are not aware of pointspreads and totals and for whatever reason sometimes(I didn't say always) do not try to make a game come out a certain way;this isn't Camelot.

Bush probably couldn't even figure out on his own how many points would be needed to put a game over the total in the fourth quarter;that is higher math you know ;he would probably have to ask Cheney first like he does just about everything else.

My guess is Savage bet on the under and if he had the over he would never have said my boys got paid off for scoring all those points for me. I agree with Frank, blowouts tend to go over if for no other reason than the subs are usually playing and having fun.

MMW-I never said it was definitely fixed. I was simply trying to point out that it is rare that 35 points are scored in the last 4:45 minutes of a game with one team leading by 30 and that the extra and unnneeded points are those which put the game over the total.
I maintain that even if everything was on the up and up in this particular game, I have seen way way too many instances where the ATS winner of a particular NBA game and/or the total is literally given away in the last few minutes to concluded that it is always coincidence and from my perspective from what I ahve seen over the last 4-5 years particularly in Lakers games.
It is your opinion against mine, and if you choose to think basketball and for that matter football are ALWAYS on the up and up, well fine. I believe differently.
Larry-I clearly stated I had the OVER in that game, and even if the subs were "having" fun in this particular game, there have been a number of games in my opinion where some players aware of the pointspread or total, were having "fun" for whatever reason to make a game come out a certain way.
You can call it paranoia if you like;I call it perception by some of the phony stuff I have seen over the years usually in the last few minutes of a game when outcome is not in doubt- in the way of call of fouls or lack thereof, missed three throws, fishy/deliberate turnovers, uncontested baskets, teams fouling when they are 20- 30 points ahead or behind, etc.
I never said it happened a lot but I have eyes and have a right to draw my own conclusions just as you do.
Frank's stats do not address the human element involved and most importantly what transpires in the last few minutes of a game when the hanky oanky is most likely to occur with the ATS and/or total.
ps Hopefully at the very least you agree with what I said about Bush;that is a lot less debateable.
