Grand Rapids (5-9) @ Austin (8-6)-Austin lost three of last four games; they're 3-6 after 5-0 start, and lost three of lastt four SU at home. Rampage won last two games, scoring 55.5 ppg; weird for 5-9 team to have pair of two-game win streaks, but Rampage does; they're 3-1 vs spread in game after a win, but 3-4 vs spread on road. Five of their seven road games stayed under total. Austin Average totals, for Rampage, 99.7, for Austin, 97.7.

Cavaliers beat Detroit 97-84 in first meeting this season, then got waxed in last three, losing 90-78/96-73 on this court, and at home by 84-72 count. Cleveland beat Wizards in six, but the last three wins were all by single point in high-scoring games- that ends right here, as Detroit allowed 90.8 in their four wins in the first round win vs Milwaukee.

Spurs, Mavericks split their four regular season meetings, with both teams 1-1 at home; they battled all year in standings for the right to haver Game 7 of this series on their home court, and the defending league champs won. Dallas swept Memphis in first roundwhile Spurs lost twice st Sacramento, so Mavericks have the edge in rest and preparation time for this.

-- Suns 121, Lakers 90. Score one for basketball purists.
-- All 30 major league teams had their Magnetic Schedule Giveaway night, but only 26 of the 30 teams have Cap Day.
-- 157,526 people showed up for the Kentucky Derby; NBC used 32 cameras to televise the race, which took 2:01.36 to run. Thats 3.78 seconds per camera. Seems like a little too much production for a two-minute event.
-- Is it me, or have baseball players become more fragile?
-- I'm watching the Dodgers, and thinking that their rookie reliever Takashi Saito is pretty good for a rookie, until we look at the roster, and see that he's 36 years old. Whoops.
-- At 1:34am Sunday, Nomar Garciaparra slapped a single to right to win the game in the ninth inning for second night in a row, as his comeback as a first baseman continues. Well at least one LA team showed some spunk Saturday night.

Sunday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but...............
                        13) Suns shot 61% in their demolition of Kobe's Lakers in the decisive Game 7 Saturday night. Spread the court, then hit an open man, then make an open shot. It is simple, effective way to play the game. And fun to watch.

                        12) As a patron on the next barstool pointed out to me early in the fourth quarter, so much for Michael-Kobe comparisons If someone had clotheslined Jordan, Michael would've made the guy's life miserable for the next decade.

                        11) I can't remember a horse race where the favorite was 5-1. As dominant as Barbaro was Saturday, no one thought that much of him before the race Saturday- he wasn't even favored Now he is billed as a superhorse; we'll see about that.

                        10) Is Derby the only American horserace with 20 horses in it? Is it even safe to run a race with so much traffic?

                        9) The same week that NC State got grilled for hiring Sidney Lowe as its hoop coach, Alabama gave Mike Shula extension until 2012. Lowe is basically in same boat Shula was when he was hired; an alumnus hired to right a sinking ship. Shula had a tougher task than Lowe has, and he's done great.

                        8) Have you ever seen the Calvin Ayre poker tournaments on FOX Sports on Saturday nights? Apparently, BoDog.net is owned by Mr Ayre; he uses these poker tournaments to both promote his casinos and to try out as the next Hugh Hefner. The tournaments are held in Costa Rica, with attractive ladies all over the place. Check it out sometime.

                        7) The Indians must like Paul Byrd; they've given him nine or more runs in five of his six starts this season.

                        6) By way of contrast, Barry Zito has made six starts for A's, and has gotten more than three runs of support only once.

                        5) David Wright has a career batting average of 11-21 in extra innings (.524), but Saturday was his first extra inning RBI.

                        4) With Victor Zambrano going down with injury Saturday, and Bannister already on DL, does this make the Mets think about trading ace prospect Lastings Milledge for Zito? Their starting pitching is very, very thin right now, and with their TV station in its first year, they have pressure to win. Now.

                        3) Speaking of SNY, the Mets' TV station, announcers Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez launched into a first-inning talk about whether Saturday's 1:00 start (14 hours after the Friday game ended) would produce a sluggish game, since baseball has cracked down on amphetimine use. Interesting stuff, but I almost fell off my couch. Didn't expect the topic to come up, but reading between the lines, amphetimine use had been in vogue for quite some time.

                        2) Seth McClung of the Devil Rays and Nick Swisher of A's are co-holders of the West Virginia high school record for the most home runs in one season, with 17.

                        1) As an A's fan, I am seriously annoyed at Jason Kendall for getting suspended for four games; he charged the mound in Anaheim Tuesday, even though he wasn't hit by pitch- bases were loaded in a 3-1 game at time of incident-- didn't he think his team needed him in that important game?

He not only got thrown out of that game, now they have to play four more games without him, and its not like A's have great margin for error, as far as making the playoffs go. I just don't understand what was going through his mind- he went out to the mound because the pitcher yelled him- the guy did not even curse at him. Very strange turn of events.
