Scoring a key for Suns; they've scored 107-114-126 in series Ws, and 93-92-98 in losses. Bell back for this game, but does Bryant play more team ball when Raja is guarding him? Bryant took 35 shots in Game 6 loss, more than next three Lakers combined, so question is this: Will game be played at same fast pace as Game 6? If so, advantage Suns. Lakers shot over 50% from the floor in three of last five games. Suns really haven't had hot night from beyond arc in series, but they have home court edge back here.

Brother Derek: Has won four in a row and his Beyer's are solid. Form says he may regress a bit and the timing is not great. Post doesn't help Barbaro: In great form. Beyer's on the rise. Should be rested. Solid post and the proper running style. Sweetnorthernsaint: Last was nice. Was challenged and had another gear. Can sit off the pace. Like the steady rise in Beyer's.
AP Warrior: Bet this one in the futures. Sentimental choice. I was hoping for more in last when he was sitting chilly and was no match late for Brother Derek. Third off layoff may be his best. Jazil: Was flying at the end of Wood. If similar pace scenario develop, this guy could pick up all the pieces at a big number. Inside post actually may help with saving ground and energy early in the race.
Sinister Minister: If left alone, will be gone!
The Bets:
$13W Barbaro
$11W Sweetnorthersaint
$1TriBx Barbaro/Sweetnorthernsaint/AP Warrior/Brother Derek/Jazil
$2WPS AP Warrior
$2WPS Jazil
$4W Sinister Minister
Total Bets: $100.00
Danny the Glover's Kentucky Derby analysis
As everyone is saying, there is a ton of legitimate early speed this year which is bad news for the two favorites: Brother Derek and Lawyer Ron. Both have enjoyed going out on the early lead and enjoying reasonable fractions without facing any serious threats in the stretch drive. That will not happen in the Derby. Sinister Minister, Sharp Humor, Keyed Entry: at least one of them will push the pace and make whoever keeps up, fight to hold the lead in the stretch from any other stalkers or closers.
Brother Derek definitely has the talent to go out and rate with the early speed and perhaps will win the race. I just think he is due to get cooked on some fast early fractions and will fade over the last furlong. He should still be factored in exotic wagering.
Lawyer Ron is just not as impressive. His wins in Arkansas have been against weaker talent. Yes, Smarty Jones and Afleet Alex went through Arkansas but Lawyer Ron does not have their talent. I will throw Lawyer Ron out.
I believe this year’s Derby winner will be a stalker who can rate early and will be guided to a good trip. Of course, luck plays a factor in this as well and we can’t predict that.
Barbaro is a candidate here but I see him as the 2006 version of High Fly. He’ll get lost going for the first turn and have to expend too much energy to catch-up.
Point Determined will be a popular choice to advance from his last races in California. I can’t throw him out. AP Warrior will get action as well but if you like the California invaders, Point Determined is a better play. Showing Up could turn out to be the best of them all but the lack of experience rubs me wrong for the Derby. I don’t think we have any Giacomo’s this year but one closer who should be used in exotic wagering is Steppenwolfer. With the fast early pace he could pick off tiring horses in the end.
This leads to my pick – Sweetnorthernsaint. He really seems to be flying under the radar – even though he has won 4 of his last 5 races. I throw out his 3rd in the Gotham because of a horrible 3 wide trip. Arguably, he has the best speed figures in the race and Desormeaux is a Hall-of-Fame jockey who can lead him through the traffic - which is critical in a 20 house field. Current odds of 10-1 make this a great play.
Bets:
$50 Win: Sweetnorthernsaint
$10 Exacta box: Sweetnorthernsaint /Brother Derek/Point Determined
$10 Exacta: Sweetnorthernsaint and AP Warrior/Steppenwolfer
$2 Trifecta box: Sweetnorthernsaint/Brother Derek/Point Determined/AP Warrior/Steppenwolfer
$250 Total investment
Capper Zeke's Kentucky Derby analysis
1 - A. P. Warrior (15 -1) - has improved as a 3 year old under the tutelage of John Shirreffs. Ran strong race in his 3 year old debut and than regressed slightly when trying to chase lone speed Brother Derek in Santa Anita Derby. Will have stronger fractions in front of him in Derby and should be positioned nicely turning for home and hold off the closers at the wire.
2 - Steppenwolfer (30 -1) - late running style should fit well here today with an abundance of early speed in race. Will have to run new top to win the race but he should be part of exotics at a very square price.
3 - Sweetnorthernsaint (10 - 1) - Exploded to win Illinois Derby although the competition was less than stellar. He doesn't need the lead to do his best and should lay close to the pace. Has worked up to the Derby in fine fashion and a repeat effort from his last race will put him in the mix.
4 - Barbaro (4-1) - Lightly raced Matz trainee has won all 5 races of young career and is another who should lay close to a hotly contested pace. Don't know if he has enough seasoning yet to win a race like this but can certainly be part of the exotics.
MacDaddy's Kentucky Derby analysis
I am a stat freak when it comes to horse racing. The following information will hopefully give you a little more information to use on Saturday.
The Derby is a crap shoot. 20 three year olds going 1 ¼ miles makes for some very interesting happenings. Please remember - this is only a guide of stats - all stats deal with WIN ONLY - who you use underneath is a whole other discussion and above all else - if your Uncle Ron is an attorney - BET IT! If your priest has been accused of molestation - BET IT! If you have a sibling named Derek - BET IT! Finally - don't forget the kids birthdays and your anniversary ---- Good luck.
I've studied seven trends; four positive, three negative, in study of this race. They have all been indicators of past success or failure in the Derby. I used two steps to get down to three we're using in exotics and win wagers.............
First, I eliminated all horses who appeared on both positive and negative side of the ledger. Second, based on personal bias, I eliminated all horses in posts 1-4 and 17-20. Seven horses were left after this scrutiny, and of those seven, three stood out in a positive way. They are...............
Point Determined (+3), Sweetnorthernnsaint (+3)
Bob & John (+2)
All three horses get used in a win bet.
Box the three of them in exactas and in triples.
Best of luck, and enjoy the day.

Saturday's NHL playoff games
New Jersey's last loss was March 26 home game vs Toronto, as Devils are red-hot, sweeping Rangers in the first round. Carolina won first two meetings with Devils this year, 6-1/4-1, then lost last two, 0-3/3-4ot; Hurricanes won four straight low-scoring, one-goal games from Montreal after Hab captain Koivu went out with eye injury. Devils favored in series, don't have home ice, same situation San Jose won in last round.

-- Not only is it totally shocking that a Kennedy would wreck his car while drunk, but even more amazing that he got away with it. Shocking.
-- If I own the Atlanta Hawks, I'm asking my GM why we traded Boris Diaw. I'm also asking why our team doesn't play like the Suns do.
-- From the "All Things are Possible" category: Arizona Cardinals now have a waiting list for season tickets.
-- Mets and Pirates just finished a two-game series; the two starting pitchers for Mets had combined 479 career wins. Pirates' starters had a combined six wins.
-- Pitcher got hit in back of head with barrel of shattered bat Thursday night. Matter of time before sharp end of a bat is going to stick in someone's neck, the way it did years ago to Dodger catcher Steve Yeager.
-- Through Thursday night's baseball, teams that started a lefty pitcher were 96-69 (.582) vs teams that started a righty.

Saturday's List of 13: Sports questions I'd like answered
13 sports questions I'd like to have the answer to; some I think I know, but still not 100% sure
13) Wouldn't scoring in NFL go up if QBs called their own plays?
12) I'm curious to know the average living/travel expenses for a typical PGA golfer for a full year on Tour.
11) Why would the baseball players' union be against getting rid of DH? There are thirty DHs and at least 154 AL pitchers. Getting rid of the DH helps every pitcher.
10) When will NBA owners realize that just because a guy was a great player, doesn't mean he'll be a great coach or executive?
9) Wouldn't the NBA be a better product if regular season was either sixty or 64 games, and all playoff series were best-of-3, until the best-of-5 Finals?
8) How many added plays are in a college football game because the clock stops after every first down?
7) Do lefthanded pitchers have an edge over righties? So far this season, in games where a lefty starter has opposed a righty, the lefty's team is 96-69 (.582).
6) How much would the PGA Tour change if golfers had to carry their own clubs?
5) Why don't boxers have to wear headgear?
4) What would baseball be like if a walk was three balls, a strikeout two strikes?
3) Would it be fun, depressing or both, to hang out for a week with John Daly?
2) Why do so many basketball teams play lot better at home than on the road?
1) Is the popularity of fantasy sports mainly due to the lack of connection between players and fans that is caused by free agency?
