I'm going to go ahead and concede defeat tonight thanks to Hargrove's stupidity.
Actually it was an enjoyable day for me, as the Sabres won the greatest hockey game in recent memory to take a 1-0 series lead over the Sens.
Saturday's play:
Atlanta Braves -110 (Hudson/Zambrano) - available at 5Dimes overnights, it's about a nickel higher everywhere else
I mean, this may be a trap line from way back, but I thought the Braves would be -130 here.
The Braves cannot keep losing to the Mets, and this pitching matchup is one that should stem that tide. Hudson has owned the Mets over the course of his career, as I mentioned the first time I took Tim at Shea, in which he pitched a 3-hitter in a Braves victory. Now, in five games against Hudson since the beginning of last season, the Mets have scored a total of 8 runs, and have lost each of those five games. Hudson pitched a gem his last time out, pitching a CG 1-hit shutout against a pretty good Rockies offense.
Victor Zambrano is the polar opposite. Not only has he been giving it up easier than a Costa Rican hooker so far this season, the Braves have owned him in his career. The Mets are 0-4 in his career starts against Atlanta, including a 7-1 loss this year, when he gave up all 7 of those runs on his way to being knocked out in the fourth inning.
Also, with the marathon game these teams played today, the bullpens are taxed. Zambrano is only averaging 5.0 innings per start, and Hudson is averaging 6.6 innings per start, including two complete games.
