Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone. Nice winner with the Royals Thursday, as well as a personal play (not included in record) on the Cubs' team total under 5. Two shutouts actually.
Some musings about Friday's card:
Mariners -103 vs. Indians (Moyer/Wells)
Let's start with a couple basic statistics - the Indians average 1.8 less rpg against LHSP, and the Mariners average 1.6 more rpg against RHSP.
Since the beginning of last season, the Mariners have won 17 of Moyer's 21 home starts.
Now, I realize the Indians are the better team, but Westbrook has been awful lately, as the Indians have lost his last four starts, allowing 5, 18, 8, and 8 runs. He only started once against the Mariners last year, in what eventually was a 9-7 victory.
Moyer on the other hand, has faced the Indians four times the past couple years, and the Mariners won all four of those starts, allowing a total of only 12 runs. I'll gladly lay the short number here.
Some musings about Friday's card:
- Davies has started three times against the Mets in his career, and the Braves are 3-0, having given up a combined 6 runs in those games. The Mets are 2-7 since 2004 in Trachsel's starts against the Braves (I only go back to 2004 with everything, if it is before that, I consider it irrelevant). I think the price is right for Atlanta here - I'll personally just root for them, as they are my favorite team, and I have a play I like better.
- The Cubs have no business being favored over anyone right now, particularly on the road. CZ has been bad lately, and he hasn't received any run support.
- The Orioles average 2.9 more rpg against RHSP, and the Red Sox average 2.6 more rpg against RHSP. Over may be worth a look here.
- Here's something I am playing for half of what I'm playing my POD for - Twins team total under 4 (-120). Rogers just shutout the Twins, and the Twins can't hit LHP - they are averaging only 2.4 rpg against LHSP this season, including being shutout by Affeldt and the Royals lousy bullpen.
