Winner yesterday with the Rockies as a nice-sized dog.
Before actually posting the play, a couple random thoughts:
Friday's Play:
Atlanta Braves +102 (Smoltz/Pedro)
Smoltz is absolutely amazing in games in which the Braves are coming off a loss. I used to have the numbers on this, but I know at one point he won 12 straight games when the Braves had lost the last time out. Now they have been swept by the Brewers in Milwaukee, and Smoltz is the answer to stopping that losing streak.
The Braves were 3-2 against the Mets last year (2-2 against Pedro) in Smoltzie's starts. All of these were close, low-scoring games. The Braves know it is necessary to avoid falling well behind the Mets in the standings, and they can't lose head-to-head matchups with their ace on the mound. The return of Chipper provides a boost, and the Braves should win Game 1.

- I'm not a fan of doing so, but if ever a game was worth laying -150, check out the Astros tomorrow. Oswalt is 15-0 career against the Reds, and over the past two years, Claussen has started three times against the Astros, losing 10-0, 9-0, and 8-0.
- Right now, the best team in the AL East is the Toronto Blue Jays. They have their ace going against the second best team in the AL East's worst starter, and they are only -105? Might be worth a look.
