Nets have three guys who score; in two games, other nine guys combined to score 32 points. Pacers' field goal percentage went down from 46.9% to 35.4% in last game, so Nets won, but Nets shot 2-15 from arc, making them 3-30 for series. Indy's FT tries also dropped, from 30 to 17, as Nets kept Pacers outside.

Bulls go home down 2-0 despite making 21 of 40 treys in their first two series games. Miami motivated for a quick series end, so Shaq can have time to rest, and Mourning's calf can be ready for second round. Both teams shot over 52% in second game, pretty surprising numbers.

Kenyon Martin has been suspended by Nuggets for two games, no clue why, but unless Anthony can shoot better than 14-41 he shot at Staples, Clippers are headed to first series win since Buffalo Braves days back in '76. Denver scored 87 points both gamea at LA, shooting 38.5%, 34.2% from the floor.

The MVP of the NBA last two years is a short Canadian, while the best golfer is African-American; who knew?
-- How come no one is talking about minor league umpires being on strike? A minor leaguer threw his bat at an umpire in game Wednesday. Not good.
-- Kudos to Jerry Narron and Cincinnati Reds, off to terrific start in NL Central, a very difficult division.
-- Personally, I have no feelings either way towards Barry Bonds, but when he homered in 9th inning to tie game vs Mets Wednesday, it was a chilling, dramatic moment. It was a Roy Hobbs-like moment, had Hobbs been portrayed by Robert Downey Jr, instead of Robert Redford.
-- There were no walks in the Twins-Royals game- in other fourteen games Wednesday, there were 130, or an average of 9.3 per game. Charlie Reliford must be pitcher's umpire.
-- One other thing you rarely see: Seattle won 4-1, but none of their players walked, and none struck out.

Thursday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but................
        13) When Matt Doherty coaches SMU next season, it'll be his sixth season as D-I head coach, at his fourth different school, giving him leg up on becoming the next Larry Brown; as both are from Long Island, both played at North Carolina.

        12) Not surprisingly, Doherty says he plans on staying with SMU, and not move on to greener pastures. Same thing JLo says every time she gets married.

        11) Pepperdine has hired new coach named Vance Walberg, who was 133-11 the last four years at Fresno City College; his teams scored 100+ points per game all four years. Will be fun to follow how he does moving up to the world of Division I, and into WCC dominated recently by Gonzaga.

        10) Through Tuesday night, total of 86,501 pitches had been thrown in major leagues this season (289.3 per game).

        9) I was surprised to read that the highest plus/minus on the Phoenix Suns belongs not to Steve Nash, but to Boris Diaw.

        8) There are twelve major leaguers who earn more money than entire Marlins' squad; five of them play on Bronx team.

        7) Typical cloak-and-dagger draft stuff: When Jets had their workout for Jay Cutler, they had owner, head coach and GM all there; when they worked out Vince Young, only offensive coordinator was there. You tell me what that means, because I have no freakin' idea.

        6) Drew Brees relied a lot on TE Gates in San Diego; will New Orleans look for a tight end for Brees to throw to as a Saint?

        5) Redskins have had only 13 draft choices the last three yrs, and they have only two on first day this year. You'd think the Redskins were still coached by George Allen.

        4) Speaking of Hall-of-Famer Allen, one of his sons is Senator from Virginia, and another is GM of Buccaneers, His daughter Jennifer is excellent author whose book about life in the Allen household growing up is a must-read for football fans.

        3) We've all been in fantasy drafts where a guy snaps when a player he wants gets taken just before his turn; wouldn't you love to see a hidden camera when that happens in NFL Draft, or where two coaches get into a scuffle over whom to draft? You know this has to happen; there's too much money up for grabs for it not to happen.

        2) April ends Sunday, and NC State still has no hoop coach. Coaches who were fired from their last job are turning State down- unless they land John Beilein, they're bungling this in an epic way. April and July are the two big recruiting months, and Wolfpack has had no presence this month at all.

        1) Progress is slow in Louisiana these days, but every little bit of progress helps. The PGA Tour tees it up in Big Easy on Thursday, as first televised pro sporting event since Katrina devastated the region last summer. Hopefully, it won't be too long before things will be back as close to normal as possible.
