Washington was just 3-22 from arc in Game 1 loss at Cleveland, as James won first playoff game, with Cavaliers posting a 52-36 edge on boards and turning ball over just dozen times. Wizards shot just 40.8% from floor for game, trailed 50-36 at half, as their shaky play at end of regular season carried over.

New Jersey lost Game 1 at home to Indiana, making just 1-15 of their treys, now needs win to go to Conseco 1-1. Other than the big three of Kidd-Carter-Jefferson, other nine Nets scored total of 16 points. Indiana has now won five of last six tilts, dating back to end of regular season.

Sacramento got crushed 122-88 in Game 1; they trailed 73-39 at halftime, and that was with Artest in lineup; he is suspended for throwing elbow and will not play tonight. Spurs made 11-17 3's in first game, 27-32 from line, and shot 57.5% from floor, as well as having +19 rebounding edge-- total mismatch.

      Tuesday's NHL playoff games

Tampa Bay upset Senators in Ottawa in Game 2, winning for the first time in four games at Ottawa; now they go home and play Senators, but Ottawa beat Lightning twice at Ice Palace this year by 4-1/4-0 scores. Tampa had 36 shots on goal in each of first two games in series, split despite 1-9 showing on power play.

Edmonton lost first game at Detroit in double OT, then beat Red Wings 4-2 in Game 2, despite being outshot 92-49 in two games. Oilers' Game 2 win was first in six games against Detroit this year they lost their home games vs Red Wings, in pair of overtime games, both 4-3. Wings 2-10 on power play in series.

Anaheim is 0-11 on power play in series, but goes home with a split after surviving 12 shorthanded situations in Game 2's 4-3 win. Ducks' win was first in four tries at Calgary this season- the Flames need split in Anaheim to go home not facing elimination. Flames had won six of their last seven games that went over.

Nashville scored three goals in Game 1 to take 3-1 lead, then had to hold on to win that game; since the first period of Game 1, the Predators have been outscored 5-1 by Sharks. Nashville was 4-7 on power play in Game 1, 0-9 in second, so they've yet to score even-strength goal in series. San Jose been outshot 74-53 so far.

Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but..............
My plane for home leaves in six hours, 39 minutes as this is typed; as we conclude our excellent stay in Houston, here are some opinions that nobody asked for..............
        13) Apparently, people from Texas think people from New York talk with an accent. At least, that is what several people told me this weekend.

        12) Both #2 seeds in NHL playoffs are down 2-0, losing four home games. This is why NHL playoffs are better than NBA's version (we'll get deeper into that later this week).

        11) I mean, if the Pistons, Spurs or Miami lose one game, it is a news event; no way they're losing four of seven games.

        10) Craig Biggio is an icon here in Houston.

        9) Minute Maid Park is eighth stadium I've seen big league contest in, but first one where they played Deep in the Heart of Texas during the seventh inning stretch.

        8) They show lot of cute, funny things on the video screen during game, in between innings; one of things tonight was guy proposing to his girlfriend-- has a woman ever said no when proposed to in front of 28,380 other people?

        7) Baseball is healthy here in Texas; lot of young people here at the games, and enthusiastic, knowledgeable fans.

        6) Not that all fans aren't at least a little mean; guy sitting next to me expressed delight that Derrick Lee would be out 8 to 10 weeks with an injury. "Hey, I'm sorry, it helps us." Hmmmmm

        5) Umpire Mike Everitt is a hitter's umpire, for sure; Pettitte and Lowe both got squeezed a lot on close pitches- in the 9th inning, Lidge's walks to Drew, Kent had a few close piches. Amazing that this game got over the total; it was 1-0 in 7th.

        4) Once again, I got more confirmation tonight that Houston's citizens would be happier football fans if Vince Young would become the Texans' QB. Houston better hope they get to be a good team, because if they don't, and Young becomes a star, this is going to be one unhappy city, NFL-wise,

        3) Minute Maid Park is an absolute gem; what a ballpark. Had hopes of seeing history, when Andy Pettitte carried no-hitter into 7th inning, but Astros didn't even win the game.

        2) When Nomar Garciaparra hit his grand slam in 9th inning to put Dodgers ahead 5-2, you'd have thought somebody pulled a fire alarm, the stadium emptied so quickly.

        1) I had a terrific time here in Texas; Houston's citizens could not have been nicer this weekend, even if they do think I talk funny. Time to head back to New York, where it isn't 80 every day, but it is home.
