Wizards have huge coaching edge with Eddie Jordan, who was brains behind Nets' two trips to Finals, but Cavaliers have best player in James. Wiz won last three series games, after losing at Cleveland 114-99 in first meeting- their three wins were 101-89, 102-94, 104-92. Larry Hughes bolted Wiz to play for Cavaliers. Washington stumbled down the stretch.

San Antonio was 3-0 vs Kings this year, winning 96-93, 97-87 at Sacramento, 90-89 at home. Acquisition of Artest saved season for Kings, who were dead men walking before trade, 23-13 after, so, in effect, Kings are much better than average #8 seed. Spurs will turn up their intensity up couple notches for playoffs.

Road team was 3-0 in Miami-Chicago games this year, with Bulls routing Heat 113-93 in meaningless late-season game for Miami, but huge game for Chicago team going all-out just to make it to playoffs. Heat won 100-97, 85-84 at Chicago. Riley rates edge on bench over Skiles.

Clippers won last two games vs Denver, beating Nuggets by 33 in last game at Staples, then 111-109 at Denver. Nuggets won by 10,18 (105-95/105-87) in first two games. Andre Miller is hated by Clipper fans after his tank job in one year as Clipper PG and he is from Los Angeles. Should be pretty good series.

Saturday's Lists of 13: Notes from Kingswood Classic
Greetings from Houston, where we watched five games as the Kingswood Classic got underway Friday. Well-organized and huge (the 17-and-under division is played in eleven different buildings around Houston) this tournament brings teams in from all over America, but mostly the south, southwest and far west. Lot of work involved in something this organized.

The players I list below aren't in any particular order, just kids I saw who stood out to me, for whatever reason. I won't rate kids because I don't see all of them, and the ones I see I don't see enough of them to make a quality judgment. Here are my thoughts from first night of the Kingswood Classic..........

                      13) Game of Day: Houston Hardballers 54, Illinois Wolves 52, in overtime. Game went OT after one of Houston kids got hit shooting a trey with 0:01.8 left, then went 0-3 from line. Game was won when Monice Garrett hit an off-balance 8-footer at the buzzer for the only score of overtime.

                      12) Saw two Houston teams play, they both won. Teams that play the same day they travel are at a big disadvantage.

                      11) Saw three 7-footers play; only one blocked a shot while I was watching their game.

                      10) Every year I go to these tournaments and I write this, so here goes; when inbounding the ball against the press, why do kids stay under the backboard? They can't throw a long pass that day, but I'd say 75% of kids do it. Bad coaching.

Here are nine kids who stood out to me tonight, for a variety of reasons...........

                      9) Bartek Lewandowski, IJN Elite-- You walk in to first game of night, and you don't expect to see a 7-3 center. This lefty always turns to his right in post, but he has deft touch on his half hook. Word has him going to prep school next year.

                      8) Scott Thompson, Boise Best-- This 7-footer spent most of his game 15-18 feet from hoop, draining jumpers. His team fell apart in second half, blowing double digit lead, but this kid is in mold of Nick Fazekas of Nevada, at least on offense. He did not disrupt anyone defensively.

                      7) HaSheem Thabeet, Houston Hardballers-- This 7-3 center was most impressive of three big fellas; he had three or four loud rejections, all in second half; once his teammates got a knack for feeding him in post high enough, he was a force.

                      6) Carlton Faye, Illinois Wolves-- This 6-8 center worked butt off guarding Thabeet, and for first 20 minutes of 32-minute game, he was effective, until lob passes started going higher and out of his reach. He showed a decent touch around hoop and 17-foot range on his jumper. Hard worker, good player.

                      5) Sei Paye, Houston Heat-- Best shooter of the day; he hit three or four treys from left corner, as Heat dispatched Long Island Lightning. He was vocal after couple of his makes, but it was more enthusiasm than taunting.

                      4) Jon Rice, Illinois Wolves-- 6-1 guard can shoot it, and will go inside and battle on the boards. Wolves would have been better off getting him some more looks late in their game.

                      3) Gabe Adler, San Diego Magic-- Being recruited by schools like Columbia, Princeton, Stanford; had off-night shooting it, but had two impressive drives to hoop as Magic came back in second half to beat York Stars. Smart kid, good defender, was contributing even when his shot wasn't falling.

                      2) Albert Nolan Jr, Minnesota Magic-- The best point guard we saw tonight; he threw accurate passes in traffic that led to easy hoops. Only time his team got ball inside while I was in the gym was when he penetrated off dribble; his teammates like to jack treys. This kid can really pass.

                      1) Devin Gibson, Houston Heat-- I will say this kid was my favorite player of the night; what a defender. He had at least eight deflections when I was watching, and I only saw half of his game. He disrupted everything the other team did, and he was pretty good passer, too. He needs to get little stronger, but this 6-1 guard has very bright future.
