Nice winner with the Braves yesterday, thanks to Hudson's continued dominance of the Mets. Thursday is a relatively small card, but I have found one game that is worth playing.
Orioles -113 (Bedard/Carmona) - available at 5Dimes
The last two times the Indians have faced left-handed pitching, they have scored plenty of runs. Still, I look back to their struggles before that. Three years of little success is more meaningful than two days of much success. The particular problem Thursday is that they face the best lefty in the AL not named Johan. Eric Bedard is 3-0 this year, including 2-0 at home. He has faced Cleveland three times in his career, and the Orioles are 1-2 in those games (but 1-0 at home). However, the Indians only scored a total of 10 runs in those three games.
Both teams scored plenty yesterday, but the Orioles had every hitter in the lineup hitting the ball well. That should continue straight into this early game as they face a young Carmona. This is the second start of Carmona's career, the first a 7-2 win at Detroit. He may become a dominant pitcher in time, but Bedard is right now. His last outing was a 3-2 win over defending Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon. I think he gets it done again Thursday.
