  • Monday Day Games - Play At Your Own Risk

I feel like I was beat up. Even with all your good luck wishes, tonight was the most I can remember losing in a single day playing my baseball plays. Ever. 0-6 for a loss of 31.30 units. Tha's over half of what we had won. No excuses, I have no idea what went wrong. I'm sorry to anyone that played these but at least we are still ahead for the season. I haven't had two losing days in a row yet, so there is hope for Wednesday. I'm just posting the three day games I'm playing and lets see how they do before I post any night games. I'm still playing them for five units each.

    FLORIDA +114
    SAN DIEGO +125
    WHITE SOX -2 runs, -103

Laying two runs is still the best way to play the White Sox. It's only a mistake if they win a one run game, which they have only done once so far. Kansas City has lost all their games by more than one run.

    Baseball Current Record
    27-25
    PLUS 21.26 Units

Since Pinnacle started offering the -1 lines on favorites, do you think it has altered your thinking about picking only dogs or small favs? If nothing else, it has increased the number of games you bet. Even though I'm a sucker for all the "specialty" bets the offshore places offer, I'm convinced that any time you get away from straight line betting, the odds swing to the books.

Anyways, best of luck to you and the rest of us who follow you.

Good question Larry. That's true, it does increase the number of games I play. Yesterday I would not have played St. Louis or the Mets, but I did lose less than those playing them on the M/L. I haven't kept track of how these one run plays have done. It does let me get away from playing just dogs and small favorites, but the reason I can play these one run plays is that I am still able to keep from risking big juice, without losing any money if my play wins by just one run. If I had to lay one and a half runs, then I would never make the play.

When I look for my plays, I look for certain things that apply to both favorites and dogs the same. I'm also laying two runs in special situations like todays White Sox play. The one other time I did this, it did win. I'm also playing some of my dogs at plus one run, which has saved me from two losses so far.

As for how "specialty bets" are in the books favor, it works both ways, depending if I lay the run or give the run. These plays are unlike parleys and teasers, which you can only play one way. The books don't put out lines to let you play parleys or teasers, playing for one or more games to lose. That's why I don't feel laying or taking one run is a sucker bet because it's our choice which way we play it.

It would be interesting to see how all my one run plays have done, except I don't feel like going back and checking all my plays. If you want to, I would welcome it.

Sandman, an example of what I mean about the book getting the best of it on other than staight line bets. Today Arizona is -138, San Fran +130, an eight dollar difference. On the -1/+1 line, it's Arizona -1 (+104) and San Fran +1 (-118), that's a $14 difference for the books. True you get to choose, but you pay more to do it. Almost double the vig. And anybody that dosen't have an account at Pinnacle pays a lot more.

Larry. Good point, but they may make them higher because the one run bets may be good plays for us. The one and a half run lines, which I would never play, are only 10 cents apart. It's like they don't mind you playing one and a half run plays, but try to discourage you from playing the one run line.

Wednesday Night Plays - Looks like 2-1 so far

After last nights 0-6, I didn't know what to expect today. I start today off with Florida blowing a 5-0 lead and I'm 0-1. The next two plays were better. I won my White Sox -2 runs play and San Diego is ahead by 6 runs in the 6th inning. Forget it, here we go again. San Diego is now ahead by only 4 thru 6 innings. If San Diego dosen't self destruct, you can play these night plays with some confidence.

                            WASHINGTON +121
                            TEXAS -102
                            HOUSTON -1 run, +108
