  • Go Against The Teams That Aren't Trying

    YTD 59-59 -2.6 units
    3* 2-1 +2.7 units
    2* 7-5 +3.0 units
    1* 50-53 -8.3 units

    NBA 56-56 -3.3 units
    College 3-3 +0.7 units

I snapped out of my slump with a 2-0 Sunday including a 3* winner with the Kings.

    1* Sixers -6 1/2
It is very likely the Nets will limit starters' minutes tonite as they play again tomorrow and this game is meaningless. Tomorrow's game is at home and Frank is likely to give it more emphasis than this one. Sixers end their disappointing season on the road tomorrow and will likely have more motivation tonite as they try to win their last home game.

    1* Hawks -7
Do not be afraid of laying a big number on a bad team playing the Heat. Miami lost by 24 at home Sunday and is making no effort. Riley won't even be there to coach. Hawks had another bad year but actually look like they are building something. Hawks actually won in Milwaukee Saturday nite in what was a crucial game for the Bucks. This is Atlanta's last home game and they'll relish being able to annihilate a "name" team even if only no-names are on the court.

    Opinions only: Wizards, Grizzlies

I agree, play against the teams that don't care. The only problem is knowing when they don't care. I'm going to follow you since I stopped capping baskets, but don't these teams playing meaningless games, want to go into the playoffs on a winning note. I guess the best thing is to check the starting lineups right before game time and make your play then.

      Sandman,

No, these teams don't care about going in on a winning note. Detroit lost by 20 last nite to Milwaukee and no starter played even 20 minutes. The Heat made no effort at all against the Bulls Sunday. And here's my key point: both teams I'm going against play again tomorrow. If they're going to try to go in on a "winning note," it'll be tomorrow they put forth the effort. Neither coach is going to burn up his players with lots of minutes two nights in a row with the playoffs on tap unless they need the win for positioning.

I agree. More times than not when you see an absurd line like Atlanta favored by up to 8 points over Miami(who could ever imagine that?), the line is that way for a reason, and it wise NOT to go with your first instinct and bet Miami.
Just think Atlanta has lost 11 straight to Miami and they are favored by 7 1/2 points!
I sure hope this is a sucker line!

And sometimes in the spirit of fairness one has to know the motivation of the team which the playoff team is playing.
One can not always assume that say an eliminated team will give it its all when they have just been eliminated from the playoffs(eg Phil.) just because they are home and are facing an equally unmotivated team;it can cut both ways.

The Clipper/Memphis game should be interesting. They play Dallas if they win and get the fifth seed, Denver if they lose and get the sixth seed. Do I take the Clips getting 7.5 points, figuring it will be close because no body want's to win. OR BETTER STILL DO I JUST PLAY BASES.
