  • An odd line and some picks

I was looking at how I wanted to bet the Stros and the Angels today and I noticed that LAA was -132 -1.5 +120 and
    Houston was -158 and -1.5 +140
This is the 1st year Ive ben online and had runlines available but that doesnt make sense to me--wouldnt the bigger fav get a smaller payback on the RL?? I ended up sticking with Hou -1.5 and LAA ML because of the value. Is it simply the Willis factor and many people have taken Fla +1.5 because they figure Houston cant hit either? Or am I just an idiot--which is possible

Usually the favorite at home has a bigger spread between moneyline and runline since they only get to bat 8 innings if they win. Lots of games end up as 1 run games and the road team bats 9 inning no matter what. I believe this is why road favorites has a smaller spread between ML and RL.
    Posted record as of 03/12/08:

    NBA 35-33 -.22 units
    NCAA Basketball 12-14-1 -3.08 units

If your local is giving you Hou +1.5 at even money, dump the load on it!!!!!

        best of luck,

There is a greater chance of a road team winning by more than 1 run as opposed to a home team winning by more than 1 run. It has to do with the extra top of the 9th inning

Thanks for the info guys, too early in the season for my brain to work--perfectly logical for the home fav to have greater odds due the walk offs Thanks
