Monday's List of 13: Happy Opening Day........
Today is Opening Day of baseball season, as well as night of the college hoop championship game, one of the best sports days of the year. With that in mind, here is list of things we enjoy about baseball season...............
    13) Friday 3:20 games from Wrigley Field. A good start to any weekend.

    12) Jim Palmer, Mike Krukow, Tom Grieve, the best of the analysts in MLB. Like old friends coming back from their winter vacation.

    11) Seeing Ichiro hit, Jack Wilson field, Jose Reyes run, Adam Dunn swing for the fences.

    10) Listening to the Red Sox announcers obsess about the Bronx Bombers, even in April.

    9) Watching the Cardinals on the dish, and realizing that Joe Buck is a pretty good announcer when he isn't trying to be a clown every inning.

    8) Hearing my dad go on and on about how the Mets are going to win the World Series.

    7) Am looking forward to seeing if SNY, the Mets-owned TV station, is going to be more even-handed than YES, the Bronx Bombers' propaganda outlet.

    6) Listening to Royals' announcers trying to paint a sunny picture for their sorry franchise. Some jobs are easier than others.

    5) Hanging out in a bar on a summer Friday night, watching the start of the west coast games while I have dinner, then getting an ice cream at Ben and Jerry's for the ride home.

    4) Vin Scully calling Dodger home games. By himself.

    3) Waiting for teams to start taking infield practice again. Minor league teams drill for hours before a game; why shouldn't big leaguers? Did the WBC teach us anything?

    2) When I was a kid, never saw boxscores for west coast games until the evening newspaper came at 4:00 (back then, there were morning, evening papers); now, I don't go to bed until I've seen the last boxscore each night. Progress.

    1) Listening to the great Bob Uecker sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame last game the Brewers play in Wrigley every season (Sept 27 this year). Some things never get old.

              Monday's Championship Game
Favorites covered five of last six national championship games, with only one of last 13 having total of less than 143 (Maryland 64, Indiana 52 four years ago). UCLA thrives on shutting down their opponents; they held LSU to 32% from floor, Memphis to 31.5%, Alabama, Gonzaga both shot over 47% vs UCLA, so key for Gators is to get easy hoops, either on offensive boards or in transition. UCLA's defense is a constant, but their offense can be pathetic (Gonzaga). Will Florida play some zone?

UCLA uses bunch of big inside guys to wear down their foes, but Florida has more depth than LSU did. Gators are on 10-game winning streak, UCLA is on its own 12-game streak (10-2 against spread). Gators have better offense, UCLA plays better defense, the rebounding battle will be a variable. Usually in this game, I have a definitive opinion on what will happen, but not this game Extremely competitive game, two quality coaches. Nothing that happens in this game will surprise me much, unless its not close.

I was guest on a radio show night the pairings came out, and on the show, picked Bruins to win the national title, so I'll go with UCLA to win a very tight game. One thing I do believe, is that it helps UCLA to have a lower scoring game. The two games they struggled in, Gonzaga, Alabama both shot over 47% from floor. They key stat in this game will be Florida's field goal percentage
