On behalf of Kaptain Karl and Frank B Cheech , I’d like to welcome you to another baseball season. It’s nice to see all the new faces joining our Camp , along with our old friends too . Settle in , make yourselves at home , and let’s have fun. Please feel free to jump in with comments , questions , observations , … jokes … all of us like to keep things loosy goosy and at a nice , even keel . We have a GREAT bunch of people who are regulars in our thread … THE BEST
There are a lot of very good handicappers in Bettors Chat and we all have our own handicapping method, or fingerprint. That’s what makes this the best site around … the willingness to share.
Here’s some general information …..
I’ll be posting every day there is a game , hopefully by 12:00 noon, EST
We rarely pass , there is lots of action … but if we do, you will be notified as soon as the decision has been made . We don’t want you waiting by the computer all blessed day … there are much better things to do during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months.
I won’t be wagering these games for at least a few weeks and I suggest strongly that you do the same. Let the stats come flying in first … better for us. If you must , please take it easy in the early going. It’s a long long season. You must learn as quickly as possible to pace yourselves … try not to lose sight of the fact that we are all in this to earn money.
Why am I posting if we shouldn’t wager yet ? Because I want all of us at the same time to get a feel for how things are going. We’re pretty good at knowing when we’re about to get hot … also we’ve had the knack of sensing trouble … IN ADVANCE . I’ll advise you to cut back for certain periods of time … other times I’ll recommend you to send it ! Following this advice has maximized profits and minimized losses in the past.
There will be highs and lows throughout the long season so don’t be discouraged . Our long term outlook is quite positive … We Promise you this … WE WILL HAVE THE ADVANTAGE WITH EVERY SINGLE SIDE WE PLAY AND THERE IS NO EMOTION IN CHOOSING OUR TEAMS.
I’m a real stickler for record keeping ( since this is run as a business ) so you can expect clear and accurate results and updated records …. daily. Occasionally there are errors … please bring them to my attention and I will correct any miscue immediately.
Plays are rated in order of strength and are very specific :
4* … Highest
3 ½ *
3*
2 ½*
2*
1 ½ *
1*
Note that ½* plays did well last year and we’re moving them to the 1* category.
Managing Your Money … try like hell not to overextend yourselves by wagering uncomfortable sums , especially in the early stages of the season. Curb Your Enthusiasm !!! Please don’t knock yourself out of the box in the event we get off to a slow start. You will miss out on all the fun when we do get hot. In the past 2 seasons much of our money was earned AFTER the All Star Games , and the amounts were considerable ! Know your comfort zone .
Always Specify Listed Pitchers … for those of you new to Baseball that means that if you play our games you must tell your “ Man “ that BOTH listed starting pitchers MUST start , otherwise it’s a NO PLAY and your wager must be cancelled in case of a late scratch by either pitcher.
Once in a while we may advise you to try to Middle a game … that is … playing ON the favorite with the Money Line AND at the same time , play ON the other side with the Run Line by taking 1 ½ Runs . If the fave wins by 1 run … we hit both sides of the same game. ( Yes it’s a tight fit and it’s difficult , but we’ve made some decent money in the past few years with this tactic … many, many games are decided by 1 run )
And Like I said in “ Shooting From The Hip “ posted last Thursday , there is 1 Rule we follow to the letter :
NEVER LAY 1½ Runs with the home team … no exceptions !
We really frown upon laying more than –135 in any game … there may be exceptions to this but they are pretty rare. We can and do adjust this as the season progresses.
90% of our selections fall within the ( –120 ) to (+110) range.
It will be very interesting to see how we deal with the 2 Cy Young Winners from 2005 …. Bartolo Colon and Chris Carpenter . Last year we played AGAINST Johan Santana on the Run Line, taking 1 ½ runs, and we did great. I think we were 15-3 playing run lines against him. Will keep a close eye on these 2 for the season. There will probably be decent value with a Run Line Fade.
I do not get involved with totals … however, Kaptain Karl and Cheech handle that end of our thing and Karl will post the plays. Karl hates Unders so you can be assured that when he gives out a total , it will be an OVER.
10 –15 different factors are considered … with particular attention being paid to ball park geography and ever changing wind conditions throughout the day.
Know this about us, right from the opening bell … We LOVE helping our friends earn money … and you will at all times be treated with respect … YOU DESERVE TO WIN.
