That was a MUCH needed Top of the 5th Inning in Detroit. I wasn't sure if that game was going to get even close to 8 for a while there.:smoking: :christmas

I have not watched one minute of the game and i am really not interested at all in the NBA lately as it is about to go as low as Hockey has soon. Give me the NFL,MLB, and College Sports anyday. I have been watching Baseball all night and every night brother.:D

What games are you watching? Boston? I get Baltimore games on FoxSportsSouth (rain delay right now) and Atlanta games on TBS(10:05 in Seattle) and I watch Baseball Tonight quite a bit too...I've been curiously thinking about getting the MLB package offered by my local cable company, haven't decided yet.....

I like TBS too, i'm kind of a closet Braves fan since i get to see most of their games and Sheffield and Javy are just having monster years. I think Pedro should move to the Closer role for the Sox and everybody thinks i'm crazy but he just hasn't been durable enough to be a starter and Smoltz went to the closing role because he couldn't pitch and stay healthy in a starting role either and look what he has done. Pedro could be a deadly closer with his stuff and is the type of dominating strike out pitcher that would be perfect in that role and i think it would save his arm only pitching at the very most 7 innings a week but powerful innings.......He would be untouchable in that role i think.:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

That's a great idea,he isn't helping me on my fantasy team except taking up starts......I like the Braves, they are the closest team to me and I go to a lot of their games,I have Sheffield on my fantasy team, and Pedro...Sheffield and Javy are killing the ball like you said, need them to spark the team tonight though I need Atlanta or Ana. to either win to have a really good night ...did you notice that there are no games til 3:00 tomorrow afternoon? weird:confused: must be that west coast Junior Circuit :D

Pedro as a closer is good in theory but in reality it might not work, as Sox starters are weak enough, and without him and questionable middle relief, the Sox might not be in position to use him that often.
I don't think hitting would compensate enough to overcome lack of starting pitching without Martinez in it, and lets face it the middle relief is nothing to write home about;thus Sox might fidn themselves behind quite a bit going into ninth inning.
Also, don't forget using Pedro more often might be a detriment as he is injury prone to begin with and forcing him to throw hard more often(although for an inning at a time)might not be such a good thing in long run.
Also, there is no guarantee even with a healthy arm that he would make the adjustment smoothly from starter to closer.

When you really think about it though he has started what 1 game in the last month and that was 3 innings so it's not like he's helping them in a starting role either and even when he does start they don't get the win half the time cause the bullpen blows leads for him too so i don't think at this point they have anything to lose and maybe they could go out on the market and pick up a solid starter somewhere to take his place, maybe a team looking to dump some salaries like the Mets.

Yet another HUGE night yesterday going 5-3 with a +7.26 Units hitting both of our Home Runs and coming up a Double short of hitting for the cycle again.:D The streak in bases is now at 11 days with the losing day being monday when i was 0-1 losing a 1 Unit play but other than that i am now 59-35 +75.72 Units in the last 11 days and like i said before i will keep posting this hot streak with my record until it cools down but i see no end in sight. :D

Re: Martinez-if they get an adequate starter somewhere, sure they could try it, but I still have my doubts;thats what they pay Theo and all the big boys to decide.
