4/1
Regular Play:
George Mason +6
All week, all I hear is "the Cinderella story ends here," and "Florida is the most complete team left in the Final Four," or "Florida's interior defense will dominate this game." Well, I'm from Missouri. You've got to show me.
Mason has been battling some of the best big men in the nation. They won't be overmatched at all inside. Hansborough, Armstrong, Boone, and Davis are all quality big men that GM's Thomas and Lewis have helped send home.
Meanwhile, Florida has been feasting on the weak sisters inside. Joakim Noah is receiving a lot of publicity because of the numbers he has put up in this tournament. Hell, South Alabama, Milwaukee, and Villanova didn't have anyone taller than 6'7" to put on him. Al Horford is Florida's best post player, but he is not as dominant as Hansborough, so Mason should continue to find a way to at least contain them.
Rebounding could be a problem for George Mason in this game, but it should have been against UCONN as well. Somehow, the Patriots outrebounded the best rebounding team in the country.
Another thing people keep mentioning is that George Mason has never had the experience of playing in a situation like this. Um, 6 of Florida's top 7 players are sophomores, and the other one is a junior. They lost in the second round of the tournament last year. I'm not sure what experience they have either.
Opinion only:
LSU -2
4/2
Strong Play:
North Carolina -5 +105
North Carolina is 33-1 this season, with the lone loss coming at home to Maryland. The Tar Heels will revenge that loss in this game, and I believe they will revenge it in a big way. The biggest advantage in this game for UNC is at PG, where the Heels have All-American Ivory Latta, and Maryland starts a freshman. The whole Maryland team is inexperienced, and not ready for this pressure-filled environment against the best team in the nation.
Regular Play:
LSU +4 -102 (I played this at +5, but it is still playable at the current line)
I'm really not sure where this line came from. LSU shouldn't be a 5-point dog to anyone in the nation, and in my opinion this is a true pk em game. Semone Augustus is the best player in this game, and LSU has the best post player in the game in Fowles. Duke is a very good, balanced team, that is capable of winning the national championship, but LSU is more experienced, and I really don't think Augustus will let her team lose this game.
Plus, there is the whole "Katrina" situation, which has both the Tigers' men's and women's teams playing with an extra purpose.
