Speaking of ugly, I'm coming off an 0-2 night with losses on the Bulls' fourth quarter collapse and a narrow loss on the Mavs.
1* Sixers +5
I don't expect anybody to like this pick, but I have my reasons. Despite losing every night, the Sixers are still hanging on to the eight seed in the playoffs in the East. A win here by Philly will go a long way toward nailing down the final berth. Detroit surprised me with a great win last night but, as usual, Saunders played his five starters almost the whole game and they'll find it hard in the fourth quarter tonite playing with no rest.
1* Knicks +4 1/2
It just keeps getting uglier. The Knicks may be the worst team in the league but Boston is a rotten 9-26 SU on the road. New York was down 25 on the road two nights ago in Minnesota but didn't quit and fought back to lose by only four. That's a sign of a big effort possible for tonight.
Opinion only: Hawks (that one's too ugly even for me to make it a rated pick, but I do like it)
