Wednesday's List of 13: Random thoughts on a spring day
      13) Radios taken out of NFL helmets. Unfortunately, we're going in wrong direction on this, and defensive captains might have radios this year. QBs in the old days called their own plays, and the game was better for it; this is one of the few areas NFL has regressed in. You think Sonny Jurgensen, Dan Fouts or Joe Namath would have been better players with a coach yelling his ear all the time?

      12) Just once, though, I'd like to see a helmet cam on the guy holding for kicks, see that that looks like from his viewpoint.

      11) I'd like to see the NBA allow any type of defense; you know, just like real basketball, where isolation plays and ballhogging are frowned upon.

      10) I'd like to see Notre Dame join conference in football; this will never happen, because they'll never share their money. I'll date Gina Gershon before they share their football money.

      9) I'd like to see major league managers coach 3rd base, and without uniforms, just in coaching clothes, like the NFL. I'd like to see pitching coaches/managers barred from going to the mound this would shave ton of time off the average game.

      8) I'd like to hear more announcers speak their mind on the air, and not be concerned with offending someone.

      7) I'd like to see Brent Musberger host an NFL pregame show again.

      6) I'd like to find out if NBA coaches ever yell at their teams. They never seem to in public view.

      5) I'd love to see a 32-man NBA 1-on-1 contest, with each team putting up one player, and public vote on what players would fill out the 32-player field.

      4) I'd like to see Ivy League basketball dropped off wagering rotation, and replaced with Atlantic Sun games. Ivy kids are not on scholarship; as a result, they'd be more likely targets for potential game-fixers. The Atlantic Sun is pretty good ball, it would be good league to follow.

      3) I'd like to hear a baseball announcer say, not only is Derek Jeter not the best player in baseball, he isn't even the best shortstop on his own team.

      2) I'd love to see the troops come home from Iraq.

      1) I'd like to see a feature on how the NFL schedule is made; imagine seeing those meetings? "OK, TO hates the Eagles, so Dallas at Philly has to be a Sunday night game." Now that would be entertainment.
