  • Thursday baseball..........

Got back on track yesterday, going 2-2 (+3.1 units) cashing in the 5 STAR play on Cleveland. These are my plays for Thursday..........

5 STAR: MINNESOTA (ROGERS)(-$168) OVER Colorado (Oliver)

Twins starting pitcher Kenny Rogers is 12-2 in home games versus National League teams scoring 4.8 or more runs per game on the season since 1997 and in his career, Rogers is 2-0 when starting against Colorado with an ERA of 2.60 and a WHIP of only 0.904. The Rockies' Darren Oliver is 3-16 as a road underdog of +150 or more since 1997 and he is 0-4 on the road this season with an ERA of 6.15 and a WHIP of 1.71. The Twins are 11-3 versus a starting pitcher whose strikes out 3 or less batters per start this season. The Rockies are also only 11-32 in inter-league road games. Look for the Twins to take this one!

3 STAR: New York (Leiter)(+$95) OVER TEXAS (LEWIS)

Al Leiter has a history of bouncing back strong after a rough outing, and after lasting only 2 innings and allowing 8 runs against Seattle in his last start, I look for a strong effort by him here today. Al Leiter is 8-0 after getting rocked for 7 or more runs in his last outing since 1997 and he is 8-1 versus teams averaging 3.5 or more extra base hits per game over the last 3 seasons. Texas starting pitcher Colby Lewis has been hit hard this season espically at home where he has an ERA of 8.72 and a WHIP of 2.19. The Rangers are only 1-7 in inter-league play this season and I look for the Mets to send them to another loss here.

2 STAR: NEW YORK (WELLS)(-$175) OVER Houston (Robertson)

I really like the Yankees to bounce back today. After getting no-hit for the first time in nearly 45 years, the New York Yankees send their hottest pitcher to the mound on Thursday when David Wells gets the ball in the rubber game of a three-game series with the Houston Astros. The Yankees are 7-0 in home games when revenging a shutout loss to opponent over the last 3 seasons, while Houston is 1-6 after a game where they had at least 10 more hits than their opponent over the last 3 seasons. Yankees staring pitcher David Wells is 10-2 when playing against a good team with a winning percentage of 54% to 62% over the last 3 seasons and he is 13-2 in home games in June games since 1997. I look for the Yankees to get their bats going today against the Astros rookie pitcher Jeremy Robertson who has an ERA of 6.12 on the road this season. Look for the Yankees to take this one.

    MLB RECORD

    5 STAR RECORD 43-23 (+23.80 UNITS)
    3 STAR RECORD 58-56 (+13.35 UNITS)
    2 STAR RECORD 38-48 (-9.68 UNITS)
    1 STAR RECORD 23-22 (+1.77 UNITS)

    OVERALL RECORD 162-149 (+29.24 UNITS)
    A $100 player would be up $2924.00

    Good luck,
    John
