Nothing like trying to sleep after a night of bad beats thinking, "how the fuck am I gona pay this shit off?" I think it's finally got to me. I wish you all the best and I'll try and check in from time to time.

vondie. This will sound different in that I realize it will be hard for you to quit without anything to follow. If you are able to stay away entirely, that would be the best for you. But, if after a few days or weeks you feel the void of not gambling and think of starting again, what I am going to suggest may be enough to keep you from playing daily again. This will probally sound stupid but after awhile you may see that it isn't. Try and find a little bit of money (if possible) and make a futures bet on a baseball team to make it into or to win the World Series. This will give you something to follow each day which hopefully will be enough to keep you from wanting to start playing again. How do I know it will work. I had to do this sometime ago and it gave me the feeling, which I craved, of having action on something. To top it off, my future play was on Atlanta to make it into the Series at 35 to 1. This was the year they played the Twins in the World Seriies and the $50 I was able to find to make this bet turned into $1750. Whatever you do, I hope you will be OK.

Spark and Jcindaville, thanks a lot for the nice things you said.
I am in a counseling related profession, and although I realize I am pretty young, I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the psychology of life and the mentality you need in order to be successful. Successful is a subjective term, each and every person on this earth can be successful. I have found that looking at the positive in any situation will make it so much better and easier to overcome obstacles. I know for a fact that things like what happened to vondie are a very regular occurrence for bettors in general and ones that visit these forums. I have sort of felt a calling to try and give some help and support to people who are out there just wandering and not really knowing where they are going, therefore their choices are not purposeful in the slightest. THe thing is, no matter how many bad choices one has made in the past, there is ALWAYS tomorrow and none of us have any idea what the future has in store. So I say, EMBRACE that, and show yourself and this world that you are resilient and you can take a blow and bounce back. It doesn't have anything to do with what others see different in you, it's the feeling you give yourself and the high you will get from doing something positive for yourself.
I'm off my soapbox, I hope everyone has a good weekend. And Vondie if your out there, keep it positive and keep it real and be the person you know you can be and know you can respect.

Vondie- You are well liked by the crew here and have added to the site. I will miss that. It is true that so many of us - can't sleep after a bad beat and certainly drop down to a low amount to compensate or quit. Since I started capping my own games- I have learned much about how a game can get completely away from ya- such is gambling- the money can also get so far away from ya!
I find the vig to be both sides of a bet alot of times and realize just how much of a percentage of our plays -we will have to win to break even- It seems to have gotten worse.
The dog does not have equal odds with the fav anymore when I look at Bodog. THe lines are skewed entirely in their favor- such is the way gambling is going now. A bigger purse for the books. All my games are circled so I can not tease or parlay an expected winner.
We are in the midst of madness in March and more miners misuse their money on minor miracles panning malignantly for a mountain of gold. (Sorry Kapts Rum is still working on me)
Vondie- I wish ya the best- make a negative into a positive- rededicate yourself to fulfilling your (rightful) full potential in life.
- If the gambling- and whatever else wasn't taking up all of your time - where would you be now and how much happier and fulfilled would you be.
Take the perspective that this is the best thing that could have happened to ya- to cast away the very things that have a hold on your progress.
Strengthen yourself against the time consuming devils that eat up your life and make you feel like a degenerate! You are degenerate - no more!!! Stay strong and fight the good fight!!
