Red Sox trade arroyo for willie mo pena

Paul Tagliabue will retire in July

  • #2
Red Sox have been dying to get rid of some pitching. I like the Bat Pena has and he is an insurance policy and future replacement of Mr. Nixon.

Clement or Wells will be the next one gone!

Sweet! Die-hard Reds fan here...we have been dying for some pitching! Liked Willy Mo but had a surplus of outfielders...trade should help both teams!

I liked him and will miss him. He's a young pitcher with a bright future (imo). The guy loves to rock it out in local bars and put out a CD up here. You will like him!

Could this be a prelude to Manny getting moved?

Exactly my thought!!! I dont believe the Sawx would trade away a young quality arm for a fourth outfielder.
Pena is solid but I think Nixon or (hopefully) Manny is on his way out...

Taking the Yankee fan piece out of it, it just seems logical. There can't be much of a market for Nixon with his injuries the past three years.

Although Boston could say damn with defense and move Ortiz to first, put Pena in the OF and save the wear and tear on Nixon and put him at DH.

                          Manny is going NOWHERE!!!!!

They have been talking about trading nixon. If not, he gets injured ALOT and can't hit lefties, something Pena is GREAT at!

Wishful thinking from us yankee fane, but his talent and contract make him very difficult to move...

I will say tho that if the Red Sox traded a quality young arm for a platoon outfielder with Trot Nixon cant be a great move???

Everyone i talked to loves it. Pena had a BIG STICK in limited AB's ala David Ortiz in Minnesota. Nixon is here for no more than one year. The contract or a trade will have him out. Too many injuries and he literally can't hit a lefty, Pena bats over .300 against them. I'm not saying he is Ortiz but he is a SOLID bat pick up for a man who just didn't have a spot on this team!
