Enjoyed a nice winning day on Wed- going 4-1. Only taking plays as if I am on my last dime and there is a good reason for taking it- seems to be working for me. Many times you will see that a person or book wants you to follow blindly- I say show em what ya got - and letthem decide for themselves. Wish we saw more of that at B/C. Doesn't always pan out but at least you have an understanding of where your money is going!!!

    Pacific/BC Under 135 ---Pinnacle

Salt Lake City is 4330 feet above sea level and in this range players from lower attitudes will suffer.
Pacific- 210 Feet Above Sea Level
Boston College- 19 Feet Above Sea Level

Plus there is a rumor that the Pacific leading scorer has the flu- Oh yeah -he plays but with a compromised lung capacity- at what level will he be effective at this elevation?

Oxygen is depleted and he may well struggle in a fast pace Pacific transition game!
His stomach is also an issue--So will he have the runs or will he be running-that is the question?

This story may suggest that Christian will come out strong but tire heavily in the second half. Remember the scene is different than the championship game -when he also had the flu- a ton more elevation difference.

Last season, Christian Maraker led the eighth-seeded Pacific Tigers to a first-round upset of the ninth-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers as 4-point underdogs.

This year, the only thing upset so far has been Maraker’s stomach.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Varberg, Sweden played all 40 minutes in the Big West Conference championship game despite complaining of being weak and experiencing numbness in one of his arms.
He still managed 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Tigers cashed their tournament ticket with a 78-70 win as 7-point favorites.

“I told Christian I was going to rest him,” Pacific coach Bob Thomason told the San Joaquin County News. “I lied.”

He’s now listed as day-to-day for today’s matchup with the Boston College Eagles. Pacific is a 7 ½-point underdog.

“He’s expected to play,” says Todd Allen of Bodog.com. “Any potential absence isn’t reflected in the line and we haven’t set a lower limit.”

Maraker is the Tigers’ leader in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. He is currently taking antibiotics in hopes of being ready for Thursday, but admits he is still ill and hasn’t slept since Saturday morning.

“I’ve always been wary of betting the flu,” says Covers Expert Steve Merrill. “You look at guys like Jordan over the years and it almost seems like they play better when they’re sick. It’s obviously not the same with college kids, but you look at Maraker’s performance (in the championship game) and you can see he played pretty well.

“These guys, especially in the first round, tend to come out with pretty good energy. If he’s tired at all, I’d look for it on Saturday.”

The public, be it due to Maraker’s status or the recency factor of Boston College’s run to the ACC final, are pounding the Eagles. Allen is reporting heavy public action on Boston College and, as is often the case when that happens, the wise guys are betting Pacific, dropping it from its opening status as an 8-point favorite.

Creighton's lack of offensive firepower certainly cost the team down the stretch, including an anemic 47-point effort in the MVC Tourney loss to Bradley. Since losing Nate Funk (17.0 ppg) early on, the Bluejays have simply lacked any real teeth at the offensive end of the floor. The team is averaging just 66.4 ppg and shooting a rather weak .419 from the floor. The thing that has kept the team competitive though is solid defensive play. Foes are netting a mere 61.1 ppg this year against Creighton, while struggling to the tune of .408 shooting accuracy. ****** Mathies and Anthony Tolliver are the top offensive threats on the roster, averaging 13.4 and 13.2 ppg, respectively.

Tolliver is the top rebounder at 6.6 rpg and also paces the team with 44 blocks.

The loss of Funk put a damper on Creighton's ability to produce offensively and that has certainly cost the team dearly this year.
