ACC
Miami lost six of last eight games, including three of last four on road; they lost 92-71 at Duke (+17) in game where Haith got a T after 'canes were whistled out of game. Duke lost last two games in regular season; they won their last eight first round games in ACC tourney, but are 0-5 vs spread in last five, winning by 15,7, 12,10,12 pts. Miami is 5-3-1 as an ACC road underdog.
Wake Forest is 3-2 in last five games, after 1-11 start in the ACC; their last four losses are all by 11+ pts, they're 5-8 as ACC dog, but they beat NC State 76-63 six days ago (+2). State won by 10 in first meeting (92-82). Wolfpack got its bye despite losing last three games, allowing 81.7 ppg; they're 2-7 vs spread in last nine tries as favorite. State is 8-1 in first round game last nine years.
Virginia is 2-4 vs spread in last six tries as dog; they covered six in row overall in this event. Cavaliers beat North Carolina 72-68 in January, then got housed 99-54 in Chapel Hill nine days ago (+13). Tar Heels won their last seven games (6-1 vs spread), and are coming off win at Duke; with revenge matchup vs BC on tap tomorrow, young Carolina squad better not look past this game.

Penn State covered seven of last nine as Big 11 underdog, and five of last six overall, winning four of six SU; they lost twice to Ohio State this year, 104-69 in Columbus (+19) then 75-64 as an 8-pt home dog in rematch. Buckeyes playing for #1 seed in next week's tourney; they won last five games, and are 8-3 vs spread as favorite in Big 11 games. Penn State confident dog, though.

Illinois is 8-0 in its first round games in this event, with last five first round wins all by 12+ pts. Illini won last three games overall, by 12,6,7 pts; they won last two road games, but were just 4-4 away from home in Big 11.
Big 12
Texas Tech lost four of last five games, with three losses by 11+ points- they got crushed twice by Texas this year, 80-46 in first meeting at Austin (+11), then 65-44 at home (+11). Tech trailed 36-32 at half yesterday, but held K-State to 1-12 from arc in win. Longhorns have been lousy in first round of this event, 3-2 last five, with the three wins by 1,4,5 points (1-4 against the spread).
Texas A&M-Colorado could be play-in game for last Big 12 slot in tourney, since even though Aggies had a better record, their non-league schedule was weak. Aggies won last seven games, five by four or less pts; they're 3-6 as Big 12 favorite. Colorado has eight seniors who play; they lost 61-58 at A&M Feb 8, and lost five of last six games away from home.

South Carolina lost twice to Tennessee this year, 76-69 at home Jan 8 (-5), then 81-65 in Knoxville Jan 28 (+6) so its been a while since these clubs faced each other. Gamecocks lost four of last six games, are 1-3 vs spread in last four tries as SEC dog- in their first round win, SC had just four turnovers. Tennessee presses a lot; but they failed to cover last four games as a favorite.
Kentucky lost 68-64 at home to Alabama in January (-7.5); they are 6-3 on SEC road- they were better on road than at home this year. LSU is without star freshman Thomas this weekend, and Brady has suggested that Tigers might be better off losing to rest up for next weekend.
