Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but..........
        13) Every bubble team in America was rooting very hard for Gonzaga Monday night (and Sunday). LMU was 3-11 outside the WCC; their presence in the NCAA would have knocked a deserving team out, since Zags were in no matter what.

Gonzaga is not a great defensive team; they'll be fashionable pick for Final Four. I don't see them in the Sweet 16.

        12) Not sure who the other WCC teams were rooting for. An LMU win would have meant an extra check for each school, but the league really needs Gonzaga to carry its banner, the way UNLV did for the Big West 15-18 years ago.

        11) Think about it: Cal-Santa Barbara and New Mexico State's programs haven't been same since they had Tark's program to draft off of. Reggie Theus is just now reviving the Aggies' program. UCSB is stuck in mediocrity.

        10) Speaking of Big West, fine coaching job done at Cal Poly by Kevin Bromley, who went 7-7 in league play, despite being favored in only one of fourteen league games.

        9) Underrated part of having DirectTV: Spring training games from Arizona after work every day in March, even if it means listening to Hawk Harrelson.

        8) JT Snow is going to wear #84 this year for the Red Sox, in honor of his late father, Jack Snow, who wore #84 as receiver for the Rams.

        7) When Boston College goes to Greensboro this week for ACC tourney, they're going on road trip, for sure, but Eagles are 3-0 this year in the Tar Heel State, beating Carolina, North Carolina State and Wake Forest.

        6) Chad Pennington wound up signing for $3M this year with incentives (down from $8M); smart move for him, since he wasn't getting more than that from anyone else, and if he has big year, he will hit it rich in uncapped year of '07.

        5) I rarely look at spring training box scores, since I remember Bob Welch had a 17.00 ERA for the A's one spring, then won 27 games that season. Spring results don't matter.

        4) College basketball coaching carousel started rolling this weekend, as jobs at Ole Miss, Fairfield and Rutgers opened. Looks like Cincinnati will open, too, although Andy Kennedy would likely then land at Ole Miss. Arizona State is another place where the natives are restless.

        3) First the MVC wants five (or six) teams in NCAA's; now the CAA is pushing for three of their own; at this rate, there won't be much room for the ACC schools. Sunday at 6pm is going to be very interesting.

        2) It appears as if the NFL owners with the new stadiums are being greediest and holding up labor agreement, since they are paying off their debt on the stadiums and don't want to be sharing any extra money with their business partners. Of course, if it wasn't for those partners, they wouldn't have new stadiums, but rich people don't think that way, do they?.

        1) Syracuse-Cincinnati, noon Wednesday. Pretty big game.
