Gday all,

A great start last night with my tip coming through. There is another two games that start later tonight and this one is as close to a lock as you can get.

Tip : Geelong Cats v North Melbourne Kangaroos - Cats to win by 0-39 points @ $2.30

The Cats come off an impressive win against lowly Carlton and the Roos won an easy one against against last seasons champs, Sydney. As this is a preseason game, the Roos coach has taken a conservative approach with his team and they will be going in with a fairly undermanned line up. The Cats looked sharp in their first game and they have an excellent blend of youth and experience tonight, giving them a real edge over an older North Melbourne side.

The location for this game is a key factor. It will be played in tropical Cairns where the humidity is high with an expected top temp of over 30 c or 95 f. More importantly the weather forecast indicates rain which means whichever team wins, the slippery conditions will ensure that there wont be a blowout. With Geelong's younger team and there ability to carry the ball I expect them to win a close one.

I have no idea what I just bet on but I saw your post one minute before kickoff. Decided that was fate if I could make the play in time. I did and have the Cats -26.5. Does that mean the Cats have to win the game by less than 26.5 points. I've been winning lately, otherwise I never would have made a play on something I know nothing about. But you do Phil and that's good enough for me. I'll see what happened when I wake up tomorrow AM.

Sandman, the bet I suggested was for the Cats to win by 0-39 points. They ended up winning by 26 points pulling away comfortably in the last quarter as I predicted. Your bet seems to have fallen short by .5 of a point which is a real pain in the rectum but just wandering what odds you got for that line? If they were paying me $2.30 for a 0-39 line then I would be thinking that you would have got $10 + for yours. Let me know how you went and which online bookie you went with. All the best mate.

Phil. I made a mistake in the line I told you I had. I really had -25.5 which was a winner. My play is below from Pinnicle. But I guess I still don't understand what final score I needed. Did I just make a regular bet, taking the Cats -25.5, but then what did your play of 0 - 39 mean. What final score did you need to win your play. I would have thought anything from Cats PK to -39 would have won for you. But, I guess that's wrong. In any event, thanks very much for posting this play. I guess fate did happen, if I won by only a half point. BTW, my odds were EVEN. How do you get plus 2.30. Sorry for all the questions but I'm just trying to learn what you are doing.

Well the main thing is you won your bet mate! Thats all I was worried about. For my AFL games, I use the following bookie : www.sportsbet.com.au. This Aussie online bookie specialises in AFL. They seem to have different lines to what pinnacle has on offer (which in all honesty is very limited). Your bet above essentially means the Cats had to win by over 25.5 points (they won by 26 so you covered) so I am guessing that this may have been an "in play" bet perhaps?
