  • to bet or not to bet the early line

clipped from a discussion on the advantage - if any - of betting the early lines:

"So we have had about 2500 lined games in cbb this year, and in those game you would only have lost 18 games with the closing line, so betting it early does not give you that great of an advantage as many bettors would think, and one of the reason that i change from being an early bettor to one that does not normally bet the game until near game time."

Guess that info is based on one sportsbook? Because all sportsbooks don't have same lines (opening or closing). Still that's an amazing statistic if proven to be true.... 2482-18.????????
      MLB 2007 140-108
      Kruise Rec 31-14
      Combined 171-122
      NBA Playoffs:47-30

My luck is so bad, it could be raining pussy outside and I could walk out and get hit with a dick!

Bib Bill---your statement has some credence to it, but I don't know about that percentage shown....

I have always liked to wait till the last minute, unless It's a strong play, I feel the line will move against me, then I'll play the early line....It's a guessing game...kapt

I'm having a little trouble understanding how the author derived the stat. "...would have lost only 18 games with the closing line...." I can't get past the question, wouldn't it depend on which side you bet in the game? I'm sure I'm missing something.

Your going to have to give me a while to work on the grammar in this article...

Thanx for the info---- CBB may be a different animal than football or other sports- It would be interesting to note all sports - to get a gauge on it.
