I was in the second row for the Williams/Skelton fight. The fight went pretty much as I said it would...two fairly bad boxers, one a little worse than the other. But the slightly better boxer...Williams, was a 2/1 dog. How many times can you get 2/1 on the better fighter?
It was a split decision for Williams, but I can tell you that the fight wasn't NEARLY that close. Skelton looked just as I told you he would look....like the Mummy....slow as a fucking glacier. Anyway...that's one 2/1 payday.
Now for the real money.
I never use the "L" word, but all I can tell you is that in the last several years I've made about 12 boxing bets, and only lost 2...one of which was Tszyu against Hatton...and Hatton only won (in my opinion) because his favourite, hometown ref was in the ring and let Hatton get away with MURDER. But that's sour grapes under the bridge. The point I'm leading up to is that my boxing picks are few and far between, but they *almost* always win.
The following, is the single best bet I've ever seen in boxing, and that is saying a lot. It COULD lose.....so again, do NOT bet your house...but I think the line is off by a MILE.
Joe Calzaghe, from Wales (that's bascially England, for you Yanks, lol) is fighting Jeff Lacy next Saturday. I've been waiting five years for this opportunity, and finally it's here. And on a silver platter.
Calzaghe has NEVER lost a fight...and the odds are almost even. Whoooooooooooooooooooooo.......so the bet must be on Calzaghe!! WRONG. Calzghe is a TOTAL fraud, a *typical* product of the Frank Warren/WBO machine. The formula goes something like this............
Take a decent local fighter..... create a new organisation...let's call it the WBO.......and let our local boy be "champ" of the WBO Super Middle Weight division. Just like with Naseem a few years ago....let's let our boy fight a bunch of over-the-hill "names"....or guys forced to move up in weight from a lighter division. But NEVER.....EVER....let him fight a *real* threat...someone in their prime, in the same weight division, who is world class.
Then...even after 7 long years...we can claim he's the "World Champion"...and undefeated...which is Joe Calzaghe's story. I made a lot of money when Naseem got his assed whoooped by Barerra (and Barrera was a big DOG in that fight)...and this is a replay of that situation. A fighter who had been protected his entire career....FINALLY having to step into the ring with a killer. And the results will be the same....the WBO champ will be demolished by a *real* champ, Jeff Lacy. Remember...the WBO is a total sham....a way to take second-tier fighters and let them wear a belt....so the local fans can pretend that their boy is a world champ.
Now listen to me. Maybe I'll lose this bet and kiss the $20,000 I have bet on Lacy goodbye (which is what I've just won on Williams, having put 10k down at 2/1).......but I am *certain* that Calzaghe, the fraud, will be BRUTALLY exposed by Jeff Lacy next week. When I bet Lacy I got +105 for a little money...and even money for the rest. Now the line is anywhere from -110 (and you'll struggle to find even *that*) to -140.
It doesn't matter.
Lacy should blow Calzaghe out of the ring. You can get well over 2/1 by betting on a Lacy Knockout, and that's the bet I'm making now, having already put a large lump on Lacy to win at even money.
It's a safety issue...if you want to roll the dice, take Lacy to win by KO......the safe road is Lacy to simply win...though you'd now probably be laying -120 minimum if you want any serious money on the fight. But mark my word, Lacy will kick Calzaghe's ass right back to Wales, and that will be the end of the Calzaghe "legacy".
Let's take a short walk down Calzaghe Memory Lane, to see if he deserves the self-proclaimed title of "World Champion".
In his last fight, Calzaghe was *taken the distance* by Evans Ashira. Calzahe won the decision....but why was he even *fighting* a guy like Ashira? Ashira has (typically) been fighting 10 pounds lighter almost his whole career. He had to move *up* in weight for this fight...and Calzaghe STILL couldn't KO him.
Odd.
Because the last guy to fight Ashira, the world famous Maselino Maseo (for you non boxing fans, I'm being sarcastic here, Maseo is a NOBODY) managed to KO Ashira in the 2nd round. But Calzaghe...the "world champ" had to go to the scorecards. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The fight before that Calzaghe KO'd the mighty Mario Velt, who, just as an aside, has never beaten a top-level fighter.
Three fights back, "World Champ" Calzaghe had a *points* win against Kabary Salem.....no KO. Salem has likewise never beaten a good fighter. He's lost to every good fighter he's been in the ring with.
Before that Calzaghe won against the might Mger Mkrchian, and if you've never heard of him, you're forgiven. Nobody else has either....except of course, Denis Inkin, a real household name, who KO'd Mkrchian in the 2nd round.
Do you see the pattern? Calzahge has been spoon fed a steady stream of easy meat......allowed to sit on a "title" that has no merit (the WBO) and NEVER had to get in the ring with a major title holder.
This all comes to an end on Saturday.
Lacy is a different animal althogether than anything that Calzaghe has ever even *dreamed* of. I never thought I'd see Robin Reid, a very tough, solid boxer, beaten half to death, but Lacy did just that. When Calzaghe fought Reid, he got a VERY controversial split decision. Ok, that was 6 years ago, so you could say that Lacy got an *older* version of Reid, but Reid was still a dangerous fighter when he stepped into the ring with Lacy.....and Lacy dismantled him. And I mean an ugly, painful-to-watch ass kicking.
There is no such thing as a lock....ankles can twist...knees can sprain, causing fights to be stopped. But barring something like that......Lacy should tear off Calzaghe's head and shit in his neck. This is a human sacrifice.
This line should be Lacy -500. At only -120, the line is a total joke.
After the fight you will look back in wonder that you got to bet Lacy at only a bit worse than even money.
If you ever needs a place to bet boxing I would be happy to set you up. What a clown
