What looked like a 3-0 sweep after 8 innings of play quickly turned into a 1-2 disaster yesterday. I have 2 strong dogs for today, so a 1-1 day will make a profit, but I am looking for the sweep today. Here they are........
5 STAR: Toronto (Lidle)(+$110) OVER ST. LOUIS (SIMONTACHI)
The pitching match up here greatly favors the Blue Jays. Both of these teams have a great offense, but I look for Lidle to do a better job against the Cardinals than Simontachi will do against the Blue Jays. Simontachi, even though he has pitched better in his last three starts, still has an ERA of 6.45 and has allowed 12 homeruns already this season. In his last three starts he is 3-0, but his ERA in those games is still high at 4.74. Cory Lidle is 7-2 in road games versus teams averaging 3.5 or more extra base hits per game over the last 3 seasons, he is 12-5 as a road underdog since 1997 and he is 13-4 on the road when the total is 9 to 9.5 since 1997. The Blue Jays are also 6-0 on the road in Lidle's starts this season. Look for Toronto to take this one!
5 STAR: FLORIDA (REDMON)(+$130) OVER Oakland (Hudson)
I can cut and paste yesterday's write up here. As I said yesterday, the Marlins have excelled in inter-league play at home. Florida is now 15-4 after yesterday's win in home games in an inter-league game over the last 3 seasons and the A's continued to struggle yesterday in the role of a road favorite this season now posting a 4-11 record as a road favorite of -$100 to -$150. Florida starting pitcher Mark Redmon has been pitching very well, in his last three starts he is 2-0 with an ERA of only 1.64. A's starter Tim Hudson has not been sharp as of late, allowing 13 runs in his last 19 innings pitched. The Marlins bats are hot and I look for the Fish to post another win today!
MLB RECORD
5 STAR RECORD 42-20 (+37.55 UNITS)
3 STAR RECORD 55-55 (+4.35 UNITS)
2 STAR RECORD 36-37 (+6.32 UNITS)
1 STAR RECORD 18-19 (+1.72 UNITS)
OVERALL RECORD 152-131 (+49.94 UNITS)
Good luck,
John
