Homer- I don't know anyone that picked USA in either- maybe someone did. I see the issue differently- what went wrong and how to fix it. All will be looked at and hopefully a team can compete in the future. I agree that other countries are totally into their teams and believe we would also be tuned in to our team if we were winners.
As for you Tinsman--- Why all the negatism? Lebron and others should provide you entertainment in 2 years and you say crap like that. The world is more on a parity when you have individuals participating in sports here.

maybe this is exactly the problem, people bad mouthing every american team (hockey, soccer, basketball) until nobody cares anymore, and then if nobody cares about the hockey or soccer team then why should a) the athletes care as much as a country that is fully behind them and b) the programs and the country put in the necessary resources (money, developmental leagues, etc.)...so its stupid to keep bad mouthing these teams cuz i bet if the usa makes a run in the world cup or basketball or hockey, the whole country will pretend like they are fans, just like with any team we root for, we have to take the good with the bad

Could we be just a little bit spoiled? I realize the world has caught up with us in training purposes especially.
Having worked two of the games, I believe the spearit of the games is still in our hearts- no matter what country you are from - you are pulling for the individual or team to do well. That is the glory and pride of a being an Olympic Champion- having not just beaten somone on a national stage but being the best on a world stage.

I won't go into the details. But The USA isn't going to be good in hockey for a long time if ever again.

It all starts from the youth and coaching them. Coaching in the USA Sucks from the ground up. They don't train and teach kids the skills of the game.

That is the main problem.

It start with the coach- the staff- the training- the lack of time these kids spend on ice vs other kids/countries. I have a nephew on the youth program in Canada. His speed is his greatest asset. I look forward to watching him if he makes it- but the competition to be on team Canada - surpasses anything we are doing. I have been to the training area in Colorado Springs. We do not have enough programs to produce the hockey players otherwise train them. When I tailed Tampa Bay Lightning for awhile- I read 3 americans had to be on the roster- That was some years back - but still-- That says something.

I couldn't have said it better man. It is hard for me to see. I have played hockey since I was 5 Years old. I love the sport and I have a true love for the game. To see people coaching this sport and not have the love for the game really Hurts me inside.
