I thought the game was built around penalties to US- The high sticking 4 min foul was ridiculous from the slovakian ref. It was a follow thru and therefore no penalty should have been called. The Fin stuck his face
into the route of the stick via a vain attempt to swipe at the puck. This killed any chance for a comeback really.

I think it's a tad bit ignorant to think that just because the NHL is played on North American soil that the best players are from the US. That's simply not true.

The best players from around the world come to play here in the NHL.

you look at the premier players in the NHL, and most of them are foreign.

US didn't have the goaltending. Pure and simple.

I have to disagree- John- 5-3 player deficit pow-er plays gave two goals to the Fins- not much you can do about it from the best team on pow er plays in the Olympics. They are 100 % on power play opportunities and scoring (10 of 10). I agree the money in the US brings players from around the world. These folks then provide strong nucleus of players for their country's Olympic hockey team.

The USA Hockey players aren't that good. Lets be honest Also they are all getting old.

They don't have a good Goalie like other countries either. If anyone figured they would do better. Then your just dreaming.

The reality is American Hockey isn't good from the ground up and it starts at the young ages.

For teams like Russia, Finland, Canada...this is all they do..hell a buddy of mine called me from Canada and said the whole country is on a 2.5 hour break while they watch the game today.

It's just different. It's just like soccer. Although we're getting much better in the US...we still aren't in the same league as the heavyweights.

Well - its obvious that they are not that good- Its also obvious that it is nothing but heart that would make you pick them. US likes to think they have the most experienced team on the ice to battle other countries- unfortunately they need to reconsider the legs on these guys in the future (new blood). In the game - the Fins at one point had 8 change overs to two for the Americans- could coaching also be a question in what happened in this game and the prior one with Russia- not providing fresh legs shows a coaching issue.

I hope Bettman stays true to his word and doesn't allow them.
